Can you imagine if the President of the United States nominated a judge to the U.S. Supreme Court who said this:
"My experience as a white man will make me a better judge than a Latina woman would be."
Or could you imagine if that same judge ruled from the bench to deny 18 African-American firefighters a promotion just because of their skin color?
That judge would be called a bigot -- and in my judgment, rightly so! Would there be any doubt that he would be FORCED to WITHDRAW his nomination for the Supreme Court?
None.
Honestly, I was not really a supporter of Judge Sotomayor until all the hullabaloo over her. And in fact, I am wondering if the right is pulling the ultimate scam on us. “Yeah, we think she should be withdrawn as a SCOTUS pick [not really] because she’s [not really] a racist and because she’s [not at all] liberal”.
They could do this ya know. They have the….. oh what am I saying? People like Newt, Glen, Rush and Hannity don’t have an entire brain between them.
The right has been portraying her as dumb (!?) and racist. Well she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Princeton, and Ivy League school that I rather doubt many of the more vocal complainers of her would have had the grades to get into.
And her statement on race has been taken very much out of context – something the right has excelled in. Remember the President’s former pastor, Rev. Wright, and his “death to America / white men cause 911” bullshit? All sound bites from a larger picture that was totally ignored even when it was pointed out to them. What do you expect from a culture of men that cover the boobs of statues of “The Spirit of Justice”. Wow.
I am left to believe that white men have a race problem. Maybe they really do feel left behind and underserved! Take this little tidbit I found this morning:
I’m sorry, I cannot say much about this video because I have been smashing my head into my desk for way too long now. White conservatives doing rap? Using street moves that they don’t even have one fucking clue what they mean or where they came from or WHY?! This is unbelievably stupid.
The neo-cons are trying to befuddle me and it’s working. Perhaps I’ll know more after my vacation. That’s right dear readers, I am going on a working vacation and next week I’ll be reporting on my relaxing Mediterranean cruise with Karl Rove, Dick Morris, Tony Blankley and many more!! I can’t wait to get into the hot tub with Cal Thomas and talk about Jerry Falwell over cocktails. WaHooo!!
