It's been nearly 11 months since the assault on the Capitol by a mob of TFG supporters who were trying to overthrow the government by preventing the peaceful transfer of power to president-elect Joe Biden. Their attempt failed because of the bravery and shrewdness of the Capitol police, and outgoing veep Pence's refusal to go along with the plan. That plan, devised by ex-professor and discredited legal hack John Eastman called for Pence to disallow several state's electoral college electors, and replace them with TFG supporters.
That anyone inside TFG's inner circle thought this could work shows the venality, stupidity, and lack of patriotism of them all.
There's a special panel in the House looking into the Jan 6th assault, and the walls are certainly closing in on TFG and his inner circle. It was already known that they were holed up in a room at the Willard hotel - it's now clear TFG was
calling from the Oval Office repeatedly in a vain and quixotic attempt to retain power:
