Good Morning.

It’s been a busy week on the election front. I was out and about last weekend passing out fliers and talking to people about my candidacy. Wednesday evening, I was in the front row at the “Councilor-at-Large” candidate’s forum, which is always a surreal experience for me. The way Waltham politics is, the people seeking election or re-election tend to be the same, and I know them all – in some cases quite well.

Thank you, Vice President Biden
Author: Raine    Date: 10/22/2015 13:11:54

Yesterday, The vice-president of the United States made public his decision to not run for president.

Much will be said in the coming days about why and how and this and that regarding this choice. For now, I would like to thank this man for his lifetime spent in public service to our country. Yesterday, Mr Biden gave to us his hopes for the future.

Benghazi - the Final Act
Author: BobR    Date: 10/21/2015 13:07:28

When this country was created, there was nothing in the Constitution expressly enabling Congress to act as a judiciary, compelling witnesses to testify in their investigations. For nearly as long as this country has been in existence, however, that has been the case, and the court supports it. Sometimes these committees are good (investigating actual malfeasance), but more often then not they are special interest groups within the Congress going after those with whom they are philosophically opposed.

Such has been the case with the numerous Benghazi investigations by the Republican Congress. The Republican House's own Intelligence Committee determined last year that there was no "there" there with regards to the White House's (and SoS Hillary Clinton's in particular) actions that constituted anything shady. That should have been the end of it.

Ask a Vet

Good Morning.

We'll take a look at one of the oldest veteran's organizations in the country this morning - the VFW. Nearly all of us have a post in our hometown someplace. But have any of us actually been inside one? For decades, it's been the nearly exclusive retreat of male combat veterans...with a dark, smoky bar, sports paraphenalia, and maybe a function room or two that might host an occasional event. It's a model that was partly successful...until we went to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Play with fire, you might get burned.
Author: Raine    Date: 10/19/2015 13:19:37

About ten days ago I wrote a blog titled "A house divided, a Party Divided" suggesting that perhaps the Democratic minority in the House of Representatives would be able to help the majority party nominate and eventually elect a new House Speaker. We learned that morning that the person most of us thought would be elected - Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy - abruptly dropped out.

Good Morning.

I'm sure you've seen the recent GMC commercial about Rembrandt or something, to an instrumental version of The Who's "Eminence Front"?

I'm slowly reading a book called "The Jet Sex", its a history of Stewardesses and a look at how they helped basically kick off the women's movement in modern times. Not very far into yet, but I'm reminded of when flying was a grand experience.

My issues with the candidates are the polices and approaches they will take when leading our nation. There is one in the debate that puncuated one of those issue between Senator Sanders and SoS Clinton.
