Outsourcing: The Best Security that can be Hacked
Author: Raine    Date: 08/07/2014 13:07:29

Earlier this week, the website The Intercept reported that yet another member of the intelligence community may be leaking government information. Yes, another NSA leaker. This time it's about the massive watch list that has been accumulating in the aftermath of the 2001 attacks on America. It's not good. It's bloated and - if this is correct - it is out of control. I'm not only talking about the watch list - I am talking about security clearance again.

ODS
Author: BobR    Date: 2014-08-06 10:41:10

Obama Derangement Syndrome (ODS) is a peculiar affliction, affecting those who want to hate the man because... um... well - I'm not going to make any blanket statements, but they tend to believe every bad thing that gets floated on the internet. Some of them are just bad reporting, and some of them are downright call-the-men-in-the-white-coats nuts.

The ongoing Benghazi nonsense is like a horror movie monster that just doesn't die even beyond the point where you start to get irritated with the stupid plot devices. Every time a new committee is formed and goes through the same hashed over evidence, it becomes ever more clear that there is no Benghazi conspiracy, regardless of how badly they want one to be there.

The latest bit of raw meat for the Obama-haters to gnaw on is the crisis at the southern border, where thousands of children - refugees from several dangerous Central American countries - are awaiting placement either with relatives in the U.S., or back to their families in their originating countries. The paranoid and unsubstantiated stories of disease-carrying mini-mules (never mind that we have actual people with Ebola coming into the U.S. from Africa) are creating an embarrassing foaming-at-the-mouth reaction from people who seem to have forgotten that their ancestors were from foreign lands as well.

Birthday Week!
Author: TriSec    Date: 08/02/2014 12:18:47

Good Morning.

I was thinking about just posting an open blog today, but I've got a couple of musings.

We'll start with theme parks...Central Florida and Southern California seem to have a monopoly on these things. It seems that year-round good weather is a pre-requisite for these sort of things. (Hey, what's wrong with "Mickey's Frozen Hellscape Land", anyway?)

But we've got the next best thing - amusement parks. It's birthday week around the TriSec compound. Brother Trisec had his on 7/30. My niece is 8/6, and Javi and I are back-to-back on 8/8 & 8/9.He's turning 13 this year; angels and ministers of grace, defend us!

Merit and Standing, or the Lack Thereof
Author: Scoopster    Date: 08/01/2014 11:07:46

Now that the GOP-controlled House has voted to waste even more taxpayer money on their silly legal manuever, perhaps it's a good time to look at how civil lawsuits work in our wonderful country.

A great place to start, whether you're a practiced juris doctor or just a layman like myself, is the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. These fairly basic (yeah I'm being generous here) rules establish the steps to take when filing a civil lawsuit, the various procedures and hearings, motions, defenses and objections. They also set the boundaries and requirements that determine if a lawsuit has merit or is frivolous, whether a plaintiff has standing to file the suit, and which court(s) have standing to hear arguments in the suit.

Follow me.... into the esquire hole!

A Boy Named Sue
Author: Raine    Date: 07/31/2014 13:21:17

Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize a lawsuit against President Obama for not enforcing the ACA.
In a 225-to-201 party-line vote, Republicans authorized the House to move forward with a lawsuit against Mr. Obama for his application of the Affordable Care Act, which they argue has been selective and intended to delay the law’s most undesirable aspects.
Yes, this after voting to defund and repeal the Affordable care acts over 50 times, they are now voting to sue the president for not following the law.

Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing
Author: BobR    Date: 2014-07-30 10:22:30

The Republicans are playing their cards close to the chest. Everyone is wondering what it's going to be: lawsuit or impeachment? What's the best way to waste a lot of taxpayer money on a pointless exercise designed to fire up the most right-wing of the base? The bigger question should be - what do they possibly hope to accomplish, other than career suicide?
