See this stuff tells me something about the state of moral in our armed forces. Which I think would be low at this point. It also speaks of a breakdown in command discipline. This should have been squashed by the CO of the unit. Finally this also speaks to the horrible state of education in the US, seriously, how can you not realize the lightening bolts of the SS are symbolic of evil. There are things that you don't do even if you are being ironic.

I think a sad reality is that the farther away we get from World War II-- the less generations seem to understand.
18 year olds don;t have grand parents or relatives that served in World War II -- they don;t have the benefit of hearing the horrors of the war.

It is a leadership issue. I also think there are too many guys who think they are alpha males who feel the need to prove themselves not follow their leaders (did that make sense)

If you ever wondered:
"We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate."
-- Grover Norquist, quoted by David Frum, making the case that Mitt Romney would be an acceptable Republican nominee.
