I've got to write something.
Author: TriSec    Date: 10/20/2012 11:54:03

Good morning.

It's at last funerary weekend. Not much happening today; the main event is tomorrow afternoon and Monday morning. I'll be doing a lot of ironing today, but that's about all.

It's been a long and disturbing week on many fronts. I could write a full blog today about the Boy Scouts, but....I won't. I've written enough letters and emails this summer. It used to be hard, but the Boy Scout National Leadership and their mutton-headed policy has made this an increasingly easy task.

Will and I traded religious "prayer music" earlier in the week...I had an idea to write something about the music of the Lord today, but I think we actually did that earlier in the week when we traded videos.

Mitt remains Mitt...I'm tired of him, too.

And now the Cardinals stink....and it looks increasingly like we might be headed back to the old "Failtriot" days in Foxboro. Alas, nothing lasts forever. The question is, how quickly can they recover after the fall? (I think they'd do better than the Sox in that regard.)

We've been in this rut for an awfully long time....it really seems like there has been a certain "sameness" to the news for weeks now. This election really and truly can't come soon enough; maybe the cycle will change.

Ah, but there is something fun going on this weekend....it's time for the annual "Head of the Chuck" regatta - the world's largest rowing event. (Yes, even bigger than the Olympics.) A number of gold medalists will be participating this year. Best of all, it's free. (until they figure out how to sell tickets to a riverbank.)

Or maybe we could have pie. You pick.

There is indeed a sense of the doldrums, a sense that we have to wait until the wind picks up, fills the sails of our boats and sends us to new shores. For myself, I am waiting on the results of an interview, following up job leads and hoping.

I am going to a bat mitzvah today and spending time with friends tomorrow.

In some news of things coming back, Talking Points Memo reports that voters haven't heard the last thing about Bain Capital: Pro-Obama Super PAC Revives Bain Capital Attacks In Final Push To November.

Rex Ryan is hoping that the Jets will beat the Pats tomorrow but considering their track record this season, I wouldn't put money on that and I'm sure another Jets loss will start the whole Sanchez-Teabow debate again. I think the NY media loves the feeding frenzy.

The Boston sports media is chomping at the bit to go negative 24/7. We have the Red Sox 3-ring circus as they look for someone stupid enough to want to manage them and it looks like they want to hand Toronto some players to take the Blue Jay's bad manager off their hands. Every day looks more and more like the NHL will not have a season this year. Now we have the Pats' "poor" start with Brady's mortality being added to the perennially bad secondary. The only possible fly in the ointment are the Celtics, so far they look pretty good.

There are 2 sports stations now trying to out-negative the other.

If the Jets QBs just heave the ball towards McCourty play after play, there are 3 possible outcomes...
1. Receiver catches it, big yardage.
2. Receiver drops it, try again.
3. DPI.

If you asked me to rate the "managers" it would go like this...

1a) Doc Rivers - He's getting the best out of what he has. I don't think anyone expected that team to go the conference finals last year.
1b) Belichick - for a so-called defensive "genius"......but I still remember the days of Rod Rust, Phil Bengston, the last year of Pete Carroll, John Mazur...
3) Claude Julien - and he's got a more recent championship than Belichick too.
4) Whoever's coaching the Revolution
5) The cluster-fuck on Yawkey Way.

Doc has turned out to be brilliant, hasn't he?

I wouldn't mind seeing Tony Pena on Yawkey Way, but that's just me.

Tonight, I am doing Knicks-Celtics pre-season live which they are doing from the Times-Union Center in Albany. I guess they consider that neutral ground. And they show how they tweaked for the NBA since this is normally for College hoops.

All I care about tomorrow... ALL I CARE about

Is a game between the Giants and the Redskins. For the first time this year, I am able to stay home and watch the game on the couch.

As far as the Jets, they need to pick a QB and stick to it. Sanchez is a better QB in my opinion than baby baby jesus. I think the Jets GM forced Tebow onto Rex Ryan. He doesn;t really seem to like using him.

It's sad, the lock out has been extended to November 1. My Future Brother is Law is dying a little bit every day they league doesn't play. I know Bobber is looking for some Hockey as well.

Considering the amount of time Tebow does play it shows that he doesn't want to use him since I don't think he's been in a game for more than 5 minutes. Although Sanchez got a lot of flack for the losses to the 49ers and Houston.

At least the absence of hockey allowed me to get my vacation time that I needed for my move. But it is going to be pretty boring around here without hockey especially since MSG has 4 teams on their plate (Rangers, Islanders, Devils, and Sabres).
