Darrell Issa needs to be removed from his position on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee -- immediately. Earlier this month, we learned that in his zeal to go after President Obama for the tragedy in Libya, he blew the CIA's cover. Dana Millbank wrote: Last Friday, 'Representative' Issa took it upon himself to dump 166 pages of State Department documents... Foreign Policy reports: Back in July, I wrote a piece wondering about Darrell Issa and his access to information with regard to the Fast and Furious investigation he held. A month after that leak, amidst the Fast and Furious debacle, I wrote:
To date - as far as I know - not one member of the Republican-controlled House has called for Mr. Issa to be censured or reprimanded for his reckless actions. Republican leadership has been silent about his behavior. Let me paraphrase Mr Issa:
"The American people deserve nothing less than a full explanation fromthis administration this congressman about these events, including why the repeated warnings leaks about a that are creating a worsening security situation appear to have been ignored by this administration the Republican leadership. Darrell Issa might be a representative, but I'm not sure who he represents. Outing CIA personnel and their operations is not acceptable. Not now, not ever. Scooter Libby went to jail for something quite similar to this. Bradley Manning is sitting in jail as we speak. At the very least, I want to know: why is Darrell Issa still heading this committee? Personally, I think there should be an investigation from the Department of Justice. He has not only put members of the CIA in harm's way, he's endangered the lives of innocents. He has given aid and comfort to the enemy. With friends like him, who needs enemies?

The purpose of Wednesday’s hearing of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee was to examine security lapses that led to the killing in Benghazi last month of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three others. But in doing so, the lawmakers reminded us why “congressional intelligence” is an oxymoron.
Through their outbursts, cryptic language and boneheaded questioning of State Department officials, the committee members left little doubt that one of the two compounds at which the Americans were killed, described by the administration as a “consulate” and a nearby “annex,” was a CIA base. They did this, helpfully, in a televised public hearing.
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) was the first to unmask the spooks. “Point of order! Point of order!” he called out as a State Department security official, seated in front of an aerial photo of the U.S. facilities in Benghazi, described the chaotic night of the attack. “We’re getting into classified issues that deal with sources and methods that would be totally inappropriate in an open forum such as this.”
A State Department official assured him that the material was “entirely unclassified” and that the photo was from a commercial satellite. “I totally object to the use of that photo,” Chaffetz continued. He went on to say that “I was told specifically while I was in Libya I could not and should not ever talk about what you’re showing here today.”

Republicans were aiming to embarrass the Obama administration over State Department security lapses. But they inadvertently caused a different picture to emerge than the one that has been publicly known: that the victims may have been let down not by the State Department but by the CIA. If the CIA was playing such a major role in these events, which was the unmistakable impression left by Wednesday’s hearing, having a televised probe of the matter was absurd.
The chairman, attempting to close his can of worms, finally suggested that “the entire committee have a classified briefing as to any and all other assets that were not drawn upon but could have been drawn upon” in Benghazi. Good idea. Too bad he didn’t think of that before putting the CIA on C-SPAN.
Issa posted 166 pages of sensitive but unclassified State Department communications related to Libya on the committee's website afternoon as part of his effort to investigate security failures and expose contradictions in the administration's statements regarding the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi that resulted in the death of Amb. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
"The American people deserve nothing less than a full explanation from this administration about these events, including why the repeated warnings about a worsening security situation appear to have been ignored by this administration. Americans also deserve a complete explanation about your administration's decision to accelerate a normalized presence in Libya at what now appears to be at the cost of endangering American lives," Issa and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) wrote today in a letter to President Barack Obama.
But Issa didn't bother to redact the names of Libyan civilians and local leaders mentioned in the cables, and just as with the WikiLeaks dump of State Department cables last year, the administration says that Issa has done damage to U.S. efforts to work with those Libyans and exposed them to physical danger from the very groups that had an interest in attacking the U.S. consulate.
"Much like WikiLeaks, when you dump a bunch of documents into the ether, there are a lot of unintended consequences," an administration official told The Cable Friday afternoon. "This does damage to the individuals because they are named, danger to security cooperation because these are militias and groups that we work with and that is now well known, and danger to the investigation, because these people could help us down the road."

Darrell Issa Is leaking sensitive documents -- undisclosed documents - into the congressional record. That's right, he's leaking federally-sealed documents. From The Hill:Even though he has admitted he has no evidence, Issa has decided to leak federally-sealed documents. As noted above, he seems to have no problem doing this sort of thing. I wonder now, will the GOP call for a special investigation of Issa and his committee?Issa entered the sensitive, and previously undisclosed, information into the Congressional Record on Thursday during the floor debate leading up to the passage of his resolution placing Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.
The powerful Republican might be protected from what otherwise would be a criminal offense under Congress’s speech and debate clause because the remarks were written into the public record during chamber proceedings. (snip)
The applications, which are under a federal court’s seal, were given to Issa by a mole with access to the documents. Issa has claimed they reveal that top-level Justice Department officials signed off on the documents and knew about the controversial “gun-walking” tactics used in Fast and Furious. Issa has called his source a “whistleblower” and refused to disclose his or her identity. (snip)
In testimony before the House Rules Committee this week, Issa told lawmakers that he had no evidence that Holder was responsible for Fast and Furious. But on Thursday, the California Republican successfully passed civil and criminal resolutions placing Holder in contempt for not responding to a congressional subpoena for documents.
Not only has this been yet another attempt at trying to smear the administration, we are seeing mounting evidence that the actual lawbreaker may very well be Darrell Issa himself.

Good morning, folks. It looks like I need a few more things to help with packing my stuff and moving. And roomie I think may have already headed down to Myrtle Beach to look at places so I need to find out when she's coming back since I am taking care of the cat so I can set a move date.
And I'm sure Mala is happy that AMC is back on Dish since they settled the legal case out of court since Dish was about to their clocks cleaned in court. The other AMC Network channels (We, IFC, and Sundance) plus Fuse (although no sign of sister channels MSG and MSG Plus coming back) will be back on November 1st.

And it seems like they are only voting for him to oust Obama since I never had the impression there was much enthusiasm for him and it was just as the other candidates flamed out that he got the nomination by default (with the party making sure the Ron Paul supporters didn't mess that up) .

-- I 'm also sick of these sideways jabs at Single women. I know a HELL OF A LOT of single women that raise daughters that are strong vibrant and independent.
My mother happens to be one of them.
My friend Bonnie has done a fantabulous job with her daughter. The kind is smart as hell, funny a giant geek, she's one of the most amazing kids I know. No thanks to her useless lump of a dad.
Let me edit a little bit. Bonnie's daughter is blossoming into a confident, intelligent, sensible, beautiful young woman. It is really cool to watch.

Raine, thanks for a great blog. As for Congressman Issa, I fear that the man's true loyalty is to his party and its backers. I think that the President should mention this tonight, as we have members fo Romney's party endangering people who have helped this country.

I think I may have locked down a place. Not the place with kitties, but it does have a pool and a friendly dog and the pool put it in my favor and it's still close to my job. I just have to go down there tomorrow and get the paperwork done. Although I do have to get my car to the shop because one of my warning lights is on but I will buzz him if the work takes longer than planned.
