I have a Dr's appt this morning, but - given that this will be my last regularly scheduled blog before the election - I will definitely be back to write something more substantive.

I'm having a dilemma.

Years ago now, I stopped supporting the United Way, since they had pulled all their funding for the BSA over something. I think it may have been when the anti-gay policies first came to light. (I used to target-donate directly to my council.)

Seeing that it's now come full-circle, I wonder if I shouldn't start participating again, although this time I'd target the donation to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's or Diabetes research....

Anyway..just a passing thought.

This is from Tuesday, and it looks like Massapequa Park was hit pretty hard. Just remember that Live lives above Sunrise Highway, and that generally fared better than south of it.

As of Thursday afternoon, there were still 8,203 people without power in North Massapequa, 6,046 in Massapequa, 5,425 in Massapequa Park and 2,929 in East Massapequa.

I don't know. When we called him on Tuesday, he hadn't been able to leave his neighborhood. He was trying to charge his phone from his care. So at least we know his care was ok.

That said, the "Nowcast" model seems to show a post-Sandy bounce for the President. It's not back up to pre-debate numbers, but he's back over 300 electoral votes again.

See? working with a RW governor to fix the most heavily populated part of the country might actually be a good thing. Fuck...maybe Christie should run for Senate or something instead of President and start slapping some sense into people about working together during a crisis, but I digress. I suppose he'll go back to his old self once this is past...whenever that might be.

And now a question for the assembled:

Excedrin extra strength or five-hour energy?

I'm only asking because next Friday, I go to the hospital and ditch my pump, then the Troop is heading to Western Mass to climb Mt. Greylock. (About a 3-hour drive.)

I managed to avoid a hard crash last cycle, and the only thing I did differently was to have some warm sugar Coke (red label) after I got home. (I know, it's yucky, but I can't drink anything cold that weekend.)

And for reference, we used to call Excedrin "EDI Team happy pills" because they make you bounce off the walls from the caffeine in them.

Oh, I suppose there's No-Doz as well.

(I asked about interaction with the Leucovorin, which is also a B-vitamin like 5-hour, but the oncology staff was not concerned about that.)

Interesting... I have a problem with this however. It certainly is a plausible corse of events, but lets get this straight. First it was a protest, then it was we didn't know, then there was an order to stand down (not mentioned in the account) then it was a drone to collect intel before they would send in support, now it's we had troops on the ground trying to get in the whole time??? Something's rotten in Denver! As this account states it would have been better to have an armed drone sent in. Woods did call for an air support strike and was denied. He was the one with the laser. I have some knowledge of this kind of work as do other members of my family. There is a lot of conflicting info here with not enough of the important details. I have yet to read or here anything that I completely buy yet. Beck makes some interesting claims. Have you listened to what he had to say on the issue? I'll share it with you.


Oh that Glenn Beck thing: he provided me the link... with this "disclaimer":
I'm not saying I totally buy all of what he is saying, but I do believe there are some key points made. —.

Evidently, Obama may go to jail and get impeached for killing glenn beck. It goes like this: Evidently someone wrote something on the Blaze and now Glenn beck is reporting this as news. I told him I don't buy the tin foil bs that makes Alex jones look sane, and he replies:

Lol, yeah that's why said I don't buy all of it. But he does makes some interesting points that I think play into the situation. There is something to the arms dealings. Though I don't consider Obama a Traitor!!!! That's a bit ridiculous. I also understand the need for secrecy. Time will tell if the truth will be told.... I am guessing not!

Yes, it's the New York Post. This time they are spot on.
The New York Road Runners Club, which organizes the world-famous race, is paying for the generators, which were supplied by Long Island-based On Site Energy for the massive, 80-yard-long tent, which also will be used by runners carbo-loading during a pre-race pasta dinner tomorrow.

“These are our private generators. We are not draining any resources from the city’s plan to recover,” Road Runners spokesman Richard Finn angrily insisted.

But it wasn't just any weather - that day was a "100-year storm" around these parts. I recall it well, I was driving through Winchester Center as the river was literally coming over the banks - I just made it out.

Hi, everyone!

I have good news and bad news.

In the bad news, I got an e-mail back from the place that I interviewed with on Wednesday and they are pursuing other candidates. So, no luck. I guess I should be glad to get two teaching interviews in the past month.

In the good news, my grandniece Emily is out of the hospital after being in for over a month with a respiratory infection. Her Mom and brothers are staying with us for a while.

The cold that I had on Monday is still lingering. I may not be able to do anything else this election season, beyond voting, although I did make some calls last weekend.

Indiana Democrat Joe Donnelly shows signs of pulling ahead of Richard Mourdock in the closely fought race to replace Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.). Donnelly leads, 47 percent to 36 percent, according to a Howey/DePauw University Battleground Poll released Friday morning.

Past Howey/DePauw surveys showed the two candidates tied in March, and put Donnelly 2 points ahead in September.

“It’s all over but the crying,” Republican pollster Christine Matthews wrote of the race, according to the Star. Matthews conducted the survey along with Democratic pollster Fred Yang.

Mourdock has been hit hard for his controversial comments about pregnancy from rape, which he said was "something that God intended to happen." The Democratic group American Bridge 21st Century is mailing audio brochures that replay the comment to voters.
