Protect the Vote - 1-855-VOTE-213 in VA

Comment by TriSec on 11/06/2012 13:38:39
Morning, comrades!

Voter #3 in Ward 6, Precinct 2...City of Waltham, MA.

Curiously enough, I didn't actually cast a vote for Obama today. Our ballot had it listed as "Electors for the following candidates", so I voted for the College, I think.

I also voted for a Republican today, local candidate Sandra Martinez for State Senate. Yes, I hate Mike Barrett that much. When I was a candidate myself, I worked both sides of the street and did a couple of Republican events and left Ms. Martinez on friendly and civil terms - she seems like an old-school GOPer that can be worked with.

Just listening to newsbreak on The Mic - did anyone else just hear Mitt say "I can't agree they'll get it right..." when asked if he's ready to accept the voters decisions. Excuse me? who are you to tell me my vote's not right? Ass.

Aaand it's a year to go for the local City elections. I have a couple of tasks that popped up on my to-do list today. Primarily writing a new candidate bio and some position papers, and maybe figuring out the fundraising piece.

How do I get a piece of that Citizens United action?

That's the reason he's doing it, because he KNOWS no one is going to stop him either because they approve or they don't have the balls.

My $16,000 dose of oxalaplatin has given me omnipresence.

(seriously - I just got my first cycle bill for the chemo, and they've already spent over $100k saving me.)

Massachusetts is currently trending 60/40 Obama/Romney.

Illinois is currently trending about 55/35 Obama/Romney

Of all his "home" states, only Utah looks to go in Romney's favor today.

I am listening to Beethoven's ninth symphony this morning.

I fully expect to go on a lengthy music bender after the results come in tonight.

Whether it is melancholy or joyous remains to be seen.

Say, if question 3 passes in this state, it would be legal for me to grow the stuff for "personal use"

My garden could look quite different next year.

Would anyone here be interested in maybe purhasing the "surplus"?

Good morning, bloggers!!

I am going to vote later and follow up a friends lead on holiday work at a local retailer. I will be checking in here and will be at Democracy Interactive tonight for their chat and an online radio show. (I am going to help pull in some election results.)

Alright, now I'm a bundle of nerves. Spent the last 20 minutes or so poring over both 538 and electoralvote.com.

Not sure I feel much better, but that 91% chance of victory from Nate is rather encouraging.

Here's a heart-warming story from somewhere inside the 128 loop..

I pull up to the voting station, and proceed to get in line. A couple of people file in behind me, including a 30-something woman. We shuffle to the door, an inch at a time, and not long thereafter a fire truck pulls up on the side of the street. Four young men climb out of it. The 30-something woman immediately starts screeching, "Glad to see our tax dollars going to you guys sitting around." One of the firefighters retorted that they had to go into work that day, and weren't given enough notice to get an absentee ballot; but if the lady would like, they could cut in front of everyone and be on their way. The lady started screeching again. "I'm voting for Scott Brown and Romney so they can bust your stupid unions and get our cities' budgets back in check!" This continued throughout the time we spent in line, up until the point the police officer on duty inside the station had to come out, and asked what the hell was going on. By this point there was pushing and shoving happening in the line divided by political ideologies. The police officer calmed everyone down, got everyone's version of events, and then turned to the woman and said "It's a good thing my union had me come down here today, otherwise there would have been a fight, and I doubt you could hold off these four gentlemen here if it came to one." The lady went bug-eyed and shut up. I love America.

Here is Nate Silver's predictions in the New York Times:

Electoral Votes

Obama 313
Romney 225

Percentage chance to win:

Obama 90.9

Romney 9.1

Popular vote

Obama 50.8
Romney 48.3

Comforting, but still get out there and vote!

Chrysler gives Ohio & Michigan employees the day off to vote.

Suck on that, Willard.

Did bloggie go down for anyone else. Must have been inaccessible for 15 minutes.

Listening to some Ellington this afternoon now.

I maintain, as I have for years, that it is impossible to feel gloomy whilst listening to Ellington.

That said, I"ve gon nuclear; I've got "Live at Newport" queued up, which I rarely listen to. (I save it for harsh times, see "gloomy" above.)

I think that Mitt has something to worry about in Chrysler's actions.
