Scandal! Coverup!
Author: Raine    Date: 01/24/2013 13:49:24

I watched a good portion of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testimony to both the house and senate yesterday.

I want to thank the GOP for showing the rest of the world how prepared she is should she decide to run for President. Even more important, she showed the world that the GOP looks like this:

I;m starting to get the feeling that Virginia Republicans might not get their way with the redistricting/electoral nonsense they are trying to pull.

It is now 14 days since I brought the pump back to MAH for the last time.

I seem to have asymmetric CIPN, of all things. My left side seems to be improving slightly, but the right (and curiously, the side the port is on) seems to be worse.

I've also had a number of sleepless nights recently.

Wisdom from The Oatmeal.

I've read a lot of The Oatmeal, but I missed this one. I was struck by this in the newspaper clipping at the bottom:

"The insurance agent gave the family money for toothbrushes, underwear, a change of clothes, shoes, coats, and other immediate essentials. The home was insured"

Nowadays, the homeowners in Jersey and Staten Island probably got the same amount of money for their entire house after Hurricane Sandy

Good morning, folks. I saw the stuff on VA last night on Rachel's show. It looks like the GOP is aware that they can no longer win office in an honest election with their hard right ideological positions, so now they have to rig the system in their favor in order to win. The whole push to change the Electoral Vote which could mean that in those states even if a Democrat wins the popular vote, the Gerrymandered districts will swing it to the GOP since it's the only reason they still control the House.

The GOP does not seem to realize that people are tired of having their votes denied. This plan may net them a win, but they seem willing to provoke a constitutional crisis.

If I was a Democratic candidate for President, won the popular vote in these states and others, and still lost, I would not recognize the "winner" from the GOP as President. I would start a mass protest to bring an end to this sham. Why does the GOP seem willing to deny democracy?

I'm gonna play the voice of reason here.. Even this less extreme change is a major step in restoring the Senate to working order. It shifts the burden of keeping the filibuster on the minority by forcing them to keep enough of their members on the chamber floor, even if it means staying there AND AWAKE for days in order to hold off cloture.

The only good thing is if it forces a movement to finally scrap the Electoral College and switch to direct popular vote for the Presidential election like any other democratic election. At least then the Presidential candidates would have to travel the country and not just go to the states that are "toss-ups".

I can't believe this man sits in Russ Fiengold's old seat. Yesterday he made a damn fool of himself in his questioning of SoS Clinton and today he looks even stupider.

At his secretary of state confirmation hearing Thursday, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) called out Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) for missing a classified briefing on the deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Johnson pressed Kerry to commit to finding out what, exactly, happened on Sept. 11, 2012 at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. ....

"Senator, if you're trying to get some daylight between me and Secretary Clinton, that's not going to happen here today on that score," Kerry said. "I think you're talking past each other. I don't think that was the question. I think that, if your question is, 'Should the American people get the truth and does it matter?' Hillary Clinton would say yes, and I say yes. But that's not what I think she was referring to." Clinton was referring to the sequence and timing of the events, and when the intelligence information came to light, Kerry said.

This is just incredibly wrong -- But what is one to expect from Phil Gingrey (AH*-GA)
A Georgia congressman who has challenged D.C. gun laws in the past wants to allow active duty military members to carry their firearms within the District, a move that Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton calls an attack on home rule.

Republican Rep. Phil Gingrey introduced a non-binding resolutionTuesday that says the highly trained members of America's service branches should be allowed "to exercise fully their rights under the Second Amendment."

"Unless these individuals are granted a waiver as serving in a law enforcement role, they are subject to the District of Columbia's onerous and highly restrictive laws on the possession of firearms," the resolution says.

On June 13, 2009, the 1050 AM frequency changed to a separate news/talk format, operated by Air America Radio as WZAA. On January 26, 2010, following the shutdown of Air America Radio, WZAA returned to the WTOP simulcast. It took back the WTOP call letters on February 1, 2010. WTOP AM left the simulcast on June 23, 2010, as Bonneville rented the station to United Media Group. United Media changed the call letters to WBQH and aired what they called a "regional Mexican" format.

Just like with 1600 in New York, Progressive Talk in DC has been plagued by poor quality signals between 1260, WZAA, and the current We Act Radio. It was only when Randi and Steph were on 1500 that Progressive hosts had shows on a decent signal. It looks like if I lived in DC I would still largely listen to progressive talk on satellite radio.

I thought someone was chosen for that position.

Any who, something about women being granted the ability to serve in *combat* roles was just brought to my attention -- ""

The women in the past that have been in combat zones and those that are actually currently in combat zones do not get the same pay as the men that are in the same places - because the rules do not allow them to be 'classified' as being in combat.

It is a great thing that this rule is being changed so that women get the equal pay they deserve,

and also this will affect 'promotions' to - many promotions in the military are based on if you've been in a combat zone or not.

Many female members of the military will no longer be discriminated against due to not having a combat zone classification/experience under their belts.

A good day today for our female gender""

I think this is actually amazing and something that most people aren't realizing. I hate war, but I believe that women should be treated with equality. For women who chooses to serve, this is huge.

Is there any other stations that air Randi in complete? Does KTLA have her back yet? I'm telling ya, listening to her live at her website is just awful.

You mean KTLK. I thought they did air her in full. I know they put in a local host (or rotating local hosts) when Thom Hartmann moved from Noon to 3. You might try KNEW in San Francisco which still airs her live. The dropping of full-time progressive talk only effected Steph and Thom who were moved to taped-delay slots but they are both on later at night and Mike Malloy is relegated to the wee hours of the morning.

Thanks for that, Liv.

TriSec, I hope that the doctor can give you some good news tomorrow.

I hope that the side effects will disappear soon. Hang in there.
