Election Night 2013
Author: Scoopster    Date: 11/06/2013 00:55:07

The hour is upon us! It may be an off-year, but there are several pretty big races going on around the country..

- in Virginia, we have the Governor's race and several other statewide offices.
- in New York City, the Mayor's office and other city-wide positions are up for grabs.
- in New Jersey, the Governor's mansion and the State Assembly chambers are contested.

Things are looking good all around for the good guys (us), and in some cases for the better-than guys. Either way, this could be a early metric of what's to come in the 2014 midterms, and it is most certainly a referendum on the atrocious behavior of the Republican Party. Won't you join us for a spell - we have plenty of popcorn and beer!

Oh by the way, a very BIG congratulations to Illinois on becoming the 15th state in the nation to recognize the right of ALL to marry whom they love!

I had some time between raids in FFXIV, so I figured why not check out the results?

Polls are about to close in New Jersey, NYC closes in an hour.

22% Reporting in Virginia..

Cooch 50.7% (218,137)
Terry 41.7% (179,628)
Sarvis 7.6% (32,668)

Sarvis, the Libertarian Party candidate, is pulling 5-15% in heavy-red counties. That could seriously come back to 'bite' Cooch.

The Richmond Times Dispatch has called the Lt. Gov race for Northam. Thank God, that's one nutcase down.

Fox news just called it for McAuliffe

NBC News calls it for McAuliffe.

I am going to check on mid year teaching jobs in the Boston and NoVa areas. Let's say not having to say Governor Cuchinelli would be a relief if I end up in NoVa.

I wonder if all that voter purging is why it was close in Virginia considering the polling and gender gap should have meant that the Cooch lost more handily than he did.

That's an interesting point.. my buddy said PPP was getting loads of flack via Twitter about "oversampling Dems".. That isn't the case at all. There was about 5% undecided, and about 5% swing from the Libertarian candidate's polling, which went mostly to Cooch. That's what made the race closer than the polls.
