Rush Should be Dead!
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 05/11/2008 13:26:40

Limbaugh craves attention.

Go to his website - if you have the stomach - and you will see about 100 dozen pictures of this blowhard pasted all over the place. He is poking his head out from behind blocks of text and graphics, pointing to highlighted links, and holding a big fat cigar that looks a tad, um, phallic.

Of course, there is much mention of the "fact" that Rush Limbaugh was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. As well, Rush sells t-shirts that say (I'm not kidding) "Give Peace a Chance - RUSH" with a big fat Rush on the front and the words "Peace Through Rush" on the back.

Also at the website there is much about Rush's "Operation Chaos", his master plan to subvert the democratic process by having people crossover and vote for Hillary in order to keep her campaign alive and pit democrat against democrat. He is having a GREAT TIME doing this. (Yes, t-shirts are available on his website). He's patting himself on the back so much, that rumor has it he has dislocated both shoulders. He has taken credit for Hillary's 2% win in Indiana. He claims that he is has unified his party and his listeners and will now turns his attention to Obama.

Oddly enough, he does not like his party's presumptive nominee John McCain. So why does he continue with this campaign? Because, I will repeat: Limbaugh craves attention.

If Rush was a whore of the street walking variety as opposed to the media whore that he is, he'd be wearing the highest heels and the tightest mini-dress on the boulevard! He would still be shouting the loudest. It’s all about Rush, Rush, Rush!

But let me get right to the point: why should Rush be dead? Is Velveeta advocating his death? Certainly not. Not even a perverted leech like Rush should die a violent death because of his politics or his advocating certain candidates.

However, if we were to go back in time and Rush was doing this in say, 1960, in Florida where he broadcasts from, Rush would be targeted for death. Here's why: he now wants to encourage SD's to support Barack Obama and has publicly said that this is the next step in Operation Chaos. In case you have not noticed, Mr. Obama is not white. And as you may also recall, people had to fight, often to the death, to secure the right to vote.

Mr. Limbaugh needs to remember that people had to fight for the right to vote and many were threatened, jailed, assaulted and brutally murdered to gain this right. An entire group of Americans were terrorized on a daily basis!

And this was not so very long ago; during his own lifetime! Has he forgotten or is he that evil? But today we have reached a pinnacle where this country has the opportunity to elect our first ever African American President. This obviously means nothing to a man like Rush.

But I want to remind him of these men and women. Each of these true American patriots, giving their lives for the right to fully participate in our democracy, puts Rush Limbaugh to shame. While he would be busy looking for their flag pins, they led the way using a moral compass that the rest of us can only hope to follow.

I plan to send the names of some of the civil rights victims who have been murdered as a reminder. In fact, I think I'll mail them daily, one name at a time. Sort of like a puzzle, with no explanation provided. He'll probably have to Google the names. Here's a sample of some of the names he’ll be getting:

REV. GEORGE WESLEY LEE, an NAACP leader and one of the first black people registered to vote in Humphreys County, used his pulpit and his printing press to urge others to vote. White officials offered Lee protection on the condition he remove his name from the list of registered voters and end his voter registration efforts, but Lee refused and was murdered. May 7, 1955 Belzoni, Mississippi

LAMAR SMITH was shot dead on the courthouse lawn by a white man in broad daylight while dozens of people watched. The killer was never indicted because no one would admit they saw a white man shoot a black man. Smith had organized blacks to vote in a recent election. August 13, 1955 Brookhaven, Mississippi

JOHN EARL REESE, 16, was dancing in a cafe when white men fired shots into the windows. Reese was killed and two others were wounded. The shootings were part of an attempt by whites to terrorize blacks into giving up plans for a new school. October 22, 1955 Mayflower, Texas

HERBERT LEE, who worked with civil rights leader Bob Moses to help register black voters, was killed by a state legislator who claimed self-defense and was never arrested. Louis Allen, a black man who witnessed the murder, was later also killed. September 25, 1961 Liberty, Mississippi

WILLIAM LEWIS MOORE, a postman from Baltimore and CORE activist, was shot and killed during a one-man march against segregation. Moore had planned to deliver a letter to the governor of Mississippi urging an end to intolerance. April 23, 1963 Attalla, Alabama

CYNTHIA WESLEY were getting ready for church services when a bomb exploded at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, killing all four of the school age girls. The church had been a center for civil rights meetings and marches. September 15th, 1963 Birmingham Alabama

VIRGIL LAMAR WARE, 13, was riding on the handlebars of his brother's bicycle when he was fatally shot by white teen-agers. The white youths had come from a segregationist rally held in the aftermath of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing. September 15, 1963 Birmingham, Alabama

LOUIS ALLEN, who witnessed the murder of civil rights worker Herbert Lee, endured years of threats, jailings and harassment. He was making final arrangements to move North on the day he was killed. January 31, 1964 Liberty, Mississippi

REV. BRUCE KLUNDER was among civil rights activists who protested the building of a segregated school by placing their bodies in the way of construction equipment. Klunder was crushed to death when a bulldozer backed over him. Apri17, 1964 Cleveland, Ohio

HENRY HEZEKIAH DEE
CHARLES EDDIE MOORE were killed by Klansmen who believed the two were part of a plot to arm blacks in the area. (There was no such plot.) Their bodies were found during a massive search for the missing civil rights workers Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner. May 2, 1964 Meadville, Mississippi

JAMES EARL CHANEY,
ANDREW GOODMAN,
MICHAEL HENRY SCHWERNER, young civil rights workers, were arrested by a deputy sheriff and then released into the hands of Klansmen who had plotted their murders. They were shot, and their bodies were buried in an earthen dam. June 21, 1964 Philadelphia, Mississippi

Lt. Col. LEMUEL PENN, a Washington, D.C., educator, was driving home from U.S. Army Reserves training when he was shot and killed by Klansmen in a passing car. July 11, 1964 Colbert, Georgia

JIMMIE LEE JACKSON was beaten and shot by state troopers as he tried to protect his grandfather and mother from a trooper attack on civil rights marchers. His death led to the Selma-Montgomery march and the eventual passage of the Voting Rights Act. February 26, 1965 Marion, Alabama

REV. JAMES REEB, a Unitarian minister from Boston, was among many white clergymen who joined the Selma marchers after the attack by state troopers at the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Reeb was beaten to death by white men while he walked down a Selma street. March 11, 1965 Selma, Alabama

VIOLA GREGG LlUZZO, a housewife and mother from Detroit, drove alone to Alabama to help with the Selma march after seeing televised reports of the attack at the Edmund Pettus Bridge. She was driving marchers back to Selma from Montgomery when she was shot and killed by a Klansmen in a passing car. March 25, 1965 Selma Highway, Alabama

ONEAL MOORE was one of two black deputies hired by white officials in an attempt to appease civil rights demands. Moore and his partner Creed Rogers were on patrol when they were blasted with gunfire from a passing car. Moore was killed and Rogers was wounded.June 2, 1965 Bogalusa, Louisiana

WILLIE BREWSTER was on his way home from work when he was shot and killed by white men. The men belonged to the National States Rights Party, a violent neo-Nazi group whose members had been involved in church bombings and murders of blacks. July 18, 1965 Anniston, Alabama

JONATHAN MYRICK DANIELS, an Episcopal Seminary student in Boston, had come to Alabama to help with black voter registration in Lowndes County. VERNON FERDINAND DAHMER, a wealthy businessman, offered to pay poll taxes for those who could not afford the fee required to vote. The night after a radio station broadcasted Dahmer's offer, his home was firebombed. Dahmer died later from severe burns. January 10, 1966 Hattiesburg, Mississippi

BEN CHESTER WHITE, who had worked most of his life as a caretaker on a plantation, had no involvement in civil rights work. He was murdered by Klansmen who thought they could divert attention from a civil rights march by killing a black person. July 10, 1966 Natchez, Mississippi

CLARENCE TRIGGS was a bricklayer who had attended civil rights meetings sponsored by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). He was found dead on a roadside, shot through the head. July 30, 1966 Bogalusa, Louisiana

WHARLEST JACKSON, the treasurer of his local NAACP chapter, was one of many blacks who received threatening Klan notices at his job. Rush and his listeners should feel ashamed!

Mornin' Everybody :coffee:

Very thoughtful post this morning Velveeta - where did you find the list of voting rights martyrs? Did you research each and every one of them or is there a web site that lists them all? In any case, it is a great, inspirational post for this mother's day - happy Mother's Day to mothers of all creatures ("I am my dogs' mom" Stephanie Miller). :D

Cheers,

mfaye

Heya Velveeta,

I'm okay, in fact I was at a garden party last night - it was plenty windy (our wine glasses kept blowing over), but no tornadoes touched down in Tulsa - Pitcher was not so lucky - that town was blown off the map I've heard that 18 people died (none of them named Rush ). Thanks for thinking of me though. Thanks again for the very thoughtful post.

Cheers,

mfaye

Oh dear... I forgot...

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY
!

Comment by TriSec on 05/11/2008 14:39:15
Morning, folks.

I have long thought Rush should just go and die. Now that he's got a compelling reason to...

In any case, good news from our little corner of OK...but for the rest of the state, don't worry, I'm sure FEMA is on the case!

Happy Mother's day to one and all, especially those that may be mothers themselves, or those that have a mother!

(Which does leave out Rush, Cheney, Rove, etc....who are clearly the devil's own spawn.)

My mother is coming soon for our annual brunch...so I'll be dropping off in a bit.

:Peace:

Maybe Rush will choke on one of his cigars the next time he's looking for teenage hookers in the Dominican Republic.

If he dies, it should be in the most ironic manner.

And in case anyone didn't read my late post last night, I saw Iron Man with an old friend (and his son) and loved it.

Rush is indeed a pig, trivializing the right to vote. However, the voter ID laws are also insidious schemes meant to disenfranchise the poorest voters. It seems the Reactionaries have been running the Repub party for quite a while now, and Rush is just one of their foot soldiers.

To correct Livin', when he dies it should be as ironically as possible. Example: Broke, after losing his fortune due to a bad investment, he is run over by a Hummer while waiting in line for foodstamps by a driver stoned on oxycontin after losing control of the vehicle due to his accidentally dropping his cigar into his lap.

Comment by Raine on 05/11/2008 19:21:13
I hope that when Rush leaves this planet earth he will realize all the evil he has done. I just want him to finally understand this sort of stuff.

How he goes is up to whoever is in charge, I just hope he has the chance to understand exactly what he, and people of his ilk have done to this country.

He, and his ilk do not represent true conservatism or ANYTHING that our founding fathers had envisioned.

And... Rush makes the baby Jesus cry.

Is anyone going to catch today what may be the LAST LIVE Seder on Sunday?

Comment by livingonli on 05/11/2008 20:23:44
It's official. After today there is just two books shows and then Seder on Sunday is done. Although he is still handling the web site (at least until something comes up).

Tonight on The Simpsons, Homer honors his mom's last wishes.

And remember Homer's mom was supposed to be a hippie.

Anyone home?

Comment by TriSec on 05/12/2008 01:08:33
Well, that sure broke the blog!

I still say that it's a stylized version of a Convair B-58, but that just proves I have too much time on my hands...

In any case, listening to Forever Cool and knocking back some single-malt before calling it a night.

OK, that's enough. "It's a Night."
