This sorta explains.

It's not historical or anything but it is a good use of space.

Really pretty views of the river. It's south of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

Good morning, everyone!! Raine, it took a while to fall asleep as I was up late chatting with a friend.

TriSec, I understand your frustration with your friend that you posted about late yesterday. I am thinking a lot about my late friend Terry and his struggle with depression and other issues, including chronic pain from an auto accident. H e ended up going through a car window and having severe and lasting damage to his gastrointestinal tract and his pudental nerves.

There are limits to what we can do to help our friends. We can offer help and advice, but people need to be open to such things. So, TriSec, don't blame yourself. I know that you have done all that you can.

Since we're talking about maladies... I spoke with my waifu about her childhood friend last night (I think I told you guys - just over 30 and he was diagnosed with stage IV small cell lung cancer over the holidays). She's an absolute mess over the whole thing.

He's not doing too well.. he's started rounds of radiation & chemo but that's not making much difference and he's in some serious pain - he has a 6" inoperable tumor in his lung right next to his pulmonary arteries and heart, which had metastasized between his liver & pancreas, and his kidneys (those were small enough to cut out). Between the surgery and meds to help his kidney and liver function he had been feeling better, but I think the chemo is getting to him early on.

Of course, it doesn't help that he's in prison when he's not receiving treatments. The guards have basically told him that he'll get his pain & antibiotic meds "when he gets them", not according to his doctor's regimen.

This is horrible. Can the ACLU or another organization with pro bono lawyers help him?

They probably could.. I'll suggest that to her. Better yet, I'll contact them myself and have them call her.

Here's the rub.. he was scheduled to be released on parole at the end of February. Now it's a question if he'll even make it that long. I know she was already working to get him an early release for medical reasons (it's not like he's going anywhere but a hospital in his condition).

This is reminiscent of the big bru-ha-ha when a restaurateur in our neighborhood decided to open a sushi restaurant with an 18-and-over-only policy

Republican political strategist Ed Gillespie announced his plan to run for U.S. Senate in Virginia Thursday morning.

He will run as against incumbent Mark Warner, a Democrat.

Gillespie previously served as a senior adviser on Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign and as a Republican National Committee chairman.

Ya know, as the only regular with an actual child....

This is why they have "Chuck E Cheese". On the very rare ocassions when we did go out when Javi was little...well, we got dressed up and made a big deal out of it. With Javi safely at home with somebody else.

that's the impression I"m getting - athletes are usually the darlings of a campus what about the rest of the kids on scholarship, just because someone with a Math scholarship can't bring in advertising dollars to a school they should be treated less then someone with a football scholarship?

BTW. MOST BORING campaign announcement EVER.

He actually is tacking himself to Dubya in the video.

Now I'm just going to put this out there now:

They called McAullife a carpetbagger. Born in 1957...

McAuliffe grew up in Syracuse, New York, the son of Millie and Jack McAuliffe. His father was a real estate developer who was treasurer of the local Democratic organization. He is of Irish Catholic background. He graduated from Bishop Ludden Junior/Senior High School in 1975. In 1979, McAuliffe received a bachelor's degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. After graduation, McAuliffe took a job in the 1980 presidential reelection campaign of Jimmy Carter, and at the age of 22 became the national finance director. After the campaign, McAuliffe enrolled in law school at Georgetown University Law Center. He received a Juris Doctor degree in 1984.

A little about Mr. Ed, born in 1961:
Gillespie was born August 1, 1961, in the Mount Holly Township and raised in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton Township, New Jersey. His father was an immigrant from Ireland who grew up in North Philadelphia. He is a graduate of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C and Pemberton Township High School. While at CUA he began his career on Capitol Hill as a Senate parking lot attendant. He is married to Cathy Gillespie and has three children.

I know I know IOKIYAR...

Hey! Tamogochi will die if you don't take care of them!

I expect when I go to there will be kids. I expect that one of those kids might have a melt down because s/he's tired, cranky and hungry.

When I go to a place that doesn't have pictures of the food on the menu, which is also printed on paper, not plastic laminate, has crisp white tablecloths, mood lighting etc. my expectation is there really shouldn't be kids.

Been waiting all day to spill the beans on this - couldn't say anything until they announced it but one of my paintings got picked in a contest for a charity to use in their e-cards program. Don't really win anything (a t-shirt and an autographed journal) but I'm just really excited it got picked.
