El Pug Face

Velveeta has some good news to report today. Although, this probably won't last long, so put on your party hat and celebrate while you can.

The Mexican Drug lord known as El Chapo, which loosely translates to "Short ugly man with butt-face & lots of money" has finally been arrested for his many crimes.

I'm sure there is someone equally as horrible waiting to take his place, or, the Mexican government will once again let him escape. But let us take joy in the fact that at least he has his panties in a wad, if only momentarily.

From the story here:

Mexican marines and the police, aided by information from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, immigration and customs officials and the United States Marshals Service, took him into custody without firing a shot, according to Mexican officials.

Mexico’s attorney general, Jesús Murillo Karam, said a later forensic exam made it “100 percent” certain the man was Mr. Guzmán; the tests were done to avoid the kind of embarrassment Mexican officials faced in June 2012 when they announced the arrest of Mr. Guzmán’s son, only to later discover it was not him.

Mr. Guzmán faces a slew of drug trafficking and organized crime charges in the United States, which had offered $5 million for information leading to his arrest in the hopes of dealing a crippling blow to an organization that is the country’s top provider of illicit drugs.

Mr. Guzmán’s Sinaloa Cartel is considered the largest and most powerful trafficking organization in the world, with a reach as far as Europe and Asia, and has been a main combatant in a spasm of violence that has left tens of thousands dead in Mexico.

Meanwhile in Kiev. It's still a mess; even though ex-President, Yulie Tymoshenko was released. Although reports coming out this morning say the the streets are deserted from Police and protesters are roaming the streets while journalists tour the now empty home of Viktor Yanukovych. Maybe a turning point? Let us pray that it is. Too many have died and suffered.

I hope that the situation will improve for the Ukraine. While Yanukovych has fled, there is still a lot to do to help protect the rights of the people and to try to bring about a better future for that nation. (My maternal grandfather's family was from the Ukraine, and left from Kiev to go to Poland before immigrating to the U.S.)
