The last time my turn to write on this day, I posted a blessing for the day. I think I will do it again.

Let's take a break from things for a day, just one day. The news won't go away. I've added some music (scroll down, past the images) but for now, I toast to all of you, my friends near and far:

One day, I'd like to try this.

Here's to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold pint-- and another one!

Yeah, I'm not about to lay down and go backwards off the edge of an old castle just to kiss a stone that a 1 million people have already slobbered over.

Though I did love Ireland and so want to go back. Probably one of the most beautiful places I've been.

That was SOOOOO good last night.

Bob and I said basically the same thing. He gave serious shade to evolution deniers.

Good morning, bloggers! Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I got to house sit and dog sit for a friend this weekend. (The beagle really took to me.)

Today, it is mostly a day of job hunting. No interviews yet, but I am finding a lot of jobs.

Another thing that I found today as I checked on the Huffington Post was a link to FDR's speech on a second bill of rights. It is still relevant today.

New Metallica played live..

Posted this link on the IRC mosheen, to which one friend responded "how many trash cans did Lars bang on for this one?". Another friend said "not nice to call Metallica fans 'trash cans'", to which I responded "at that age it's more like trash bags, amirite?!"

FYI - bloggers!

When you post a YouTube, remove the part of the URL that says "". This breaks the blog.

I will update the code eventually to strip it out, but for now, try to remember to remove it.

Thank you Letterman!

While talking to Letterman, O’Reilly called Beyoncé‘s recent music videos “raunchy.” Letterman replied by saying this has been in the music industry for the last 40 to 50 years.

The host asked O’Reilly, “What about Miley Cyrus naked on that thing?” referring to Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” video.

“I missed that. I don’t know how,” O’Reilly responded.

The Fox News personality went on to say that Beyoncé is worth $350 million, and that “she doesn’t have to do this. I mean some of these thugs that’s all they can do, but she doesn’t have to.”

“We don’t go calling people thugs,” said Letterman in response, receiving audience applause.
I hear a dog whistle.

Disclaimer: I have not read the piece.

However, after reasing the title alone, I am going to say what I have felt for a long time: Decriminalize it.

I always thought legalizing it; taxing it, etc., would not end up well.

That's pretty much the angle it eventually reaches - decriminalization/legalization would allow for proper regulation of the farming methods AND drive the illegal grows out of business.

Don't say anything. I have it on Tivo and I promised Mrs. C not to watch it until she gets home tonight. She finished writing her doctoral dissertation last night.

How bad is the snow in the DC area going to be? I am working on some DC area teaching applications this afternoon and noticed that Falls Church has its schools closed.

depends on the year - last 2 years we hardly got any, about 4 years ago we got 72 inches, this year I think we're up past 20 or 25. We get weird weather.

Weather Channel says DC got 30 inches this winter. The winter 4 years ago was the record for the DC area. I think the New York area is in the 55-60 inch area for this winter but the biggest in recent years was the '95-'96 winter (which has some bad memories for me).

(I still do not know what you are talking about. We can leave it that way. )

I'm cooking about 17 pounds of corned beef (and cabbage etc...) for the DC home brew meeting tonite.

Congratulations to Mrs. C as well!!!

Raine, your dinner and evening sounds more fun than mine. (Left over chicken after I spent the weekend house sitting and dog sitting.)

I should have specified how bad will this storm for DC be? (We ended up with about 76 inches of snow at O'Hare and 3 inches more at Midway. Chicago had its 3rd snowiest winter on record.)

This one was just an annoying spring snow.

One day in the near future, I will be planting seeds in the garden.
