Another missing plane…
Author: Raine    Date: 07/24/2014 13:06:58

This has been a bad week for international air travel.
An Air Algerie flight carrying 110 passengers and six crew members has disappeared from radar.

Flight 5017 was flying from Burkina Faso to Algeria's capital when it vanished over northern Mali, the plane's owner and a French government official said.

Air controllers lost contact with the Swiftair MD-83 about 50 minutes after takeoff, the official Algerian news agency said. But it was hours before that information was made public.
Reports are that the plane has crashed in West Africa. Follow this twitter account for more information. It's usually accurate and gets the news out there faster than most news outlets.

Prayers to all on board and their families.

That story absolutely horrified me.

Can we just get rid of the death penalty altogether?

This is awful news.

I decided to tune into Ncole Sandler. She is going to interview Israeli peace activist Uri Avnery, who is 91. (If I live that long, I hope to still make a difference.)

That caller before the break was entirely full of shit about his Obamacare.

In other news, the screws to the plate on the door frame are both severely loose and I cannot (at this moment) get out of my house.

Sure, the worst thing is that I have to take the entire knob off.

This isn;t that big a deal, just highly annoying.

For a country that is so horrified over one fetal death, we sure have no issues with medieval executions, eh?

In some potentially good news (we could use some), the BBC reports there is doubt that the genital mutiliation edict issued by ISIS is real.

I know this isn;t huge on the news radar, but as I pointed out in the blog today, and update from Poppel

Raine, if there was no downed airline in the Ukraine and Israel and Gaza were not at war, this would be much larger news.

My hope that it will get the Kurds to consider staying in Iraq and possibly acting against ISIS.

Raine, the link did not work. So, here is a link from the Washington Post.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Prime Minister has resigned.

This was vile, and par for the course with these fanatics. My hope is that they will not only be defeated but their ideas discredited.
