A weekend Spent.
Author: Raine    Date: 06/15/2015 13:08:14

This is the stub for today. I am sleep deprived from the weekend and am still catching up with life.

I heard something happened in NYC this weekend.

Morning

I "won" a raffle for a pair of tickets to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play some semi-pro team from Boston.

The good: The weather was near perfect, the Mrs. appeared to have a good time, I was more worried about her getting lost.

The bad: Damn that team is horrible. If I paid the face value of those tickets ($100 ea) I'd be pissed. Professional ball players should know how to catch pop flies in the sun.

Mornin' all..

So my BFF's childhood friend lost his battle with cancer yesterday. He was near the end of a cycle of chemo when he caught a cold from my BFF (who's been taking care of him while he went thru treatments). Cold became infection, infection became toxic shock syndrome.

Life is so fragile. And unnervingly short, no matter how old we seem to get. :(

It seems it's always something secondary that drives in that final nail

Not good. She's been struggling to keep up with work and having to visit the hospital, plus dealing with his family (I haven't met them, but they don't seem to be pleasant folks from the way they speak to her).

I talked to her on Saturday and she was blaming herself for it because he caught her cold. I told her, roughly, that she cannot blame herself for the things that life & nature does. But I haven't heard from her since and I'm worried about her. She's one of the strongest willed people I know and I'm afraid she might break and relapse herself (she's still doing the opioid treatment).

An observation about "psychics," if you can foresee the correct spelling of "clairvoyant" you don't have a "gift." Also, spare me the reiki "healing" horse shit. Waving your hands over someone isn't going to heal them.

He likes guns because they're long, hard, hot, and reload quickly after shooting

It's summer. Nobody cares when they happen out-of-season. Prepare for the annual national hysteria when a Great White appears off the Cape.

Its summer and since JAWS and later shark week the news finds it more exciting to lead with those.

Did you know sharks can attack in knee deep water?

Good news from SCOTUS regarding SC Abortion law!
The Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal from North Carolina to revive a requirement that abortion providers show and describe an ultrasound to a pregnant woman before she has an abortion.

The justices left in place an appeals court decision that said the 2011 North Carolina law was "ideological in intent" and violated doctors' free-speech rights.

The North Carolina law would have required abortion providers to display and describe the ultrasound even if the woman refused to look and listen — a mandate that the court found particularly troublesome.

And that is why I do not go into water where I can't see the bottom. Ankle deep or pool, that's it.

I'm keeping myself sane today by watching the E3 pressers. Xbox One announced the addition of backwards compatibility. Sony is probably pissing their pants right now.

I went to see Lizz's Lady Parts Justice show in the city last night, and nothing like dealing with parking in Queens.

It has been a long day here. Due to a transformer blowing in the office park the building didn't have any AC this morning. It is sort of working now. I am so lucky I am not near windows.
