Yes, We Can't (even)
Author: Raine    Date: 09/17/2015 13:12:50

Yes, we watched the 'debate' last night. I made an early prediction stating that the most substantial portion of the evening would be the Junior Varsity team that consisted of Governor Bobby Jindal, Senator Lyndsey Graham, Former Governor George Pataki and former Senator Rick Santorum.

Watching the alleged main event was like something out of a dystopian novel.

One of these people we watched last night will eventually be the Republican nominee. One of those people could potentially become president.

Watching the debate last night I was struck at the amount of xenophobia that oozed from the second debate. The amount of half truths and lies were difficult to digest.

Each one of the people on that stage last night believes that this country is so bad off that only they can save it.

It was full of negativity and distress, and I can't even. I just can't even imagine any of those 11 people on the prime time stage as President.

Morning all.

The biggest disappointment with the debates last night was that there was no fact checking. The moderators didn't challenge the candidates at all on the bullshit they were spewing.

And of course - Trump spoke in grandiose generalities.

The particular howler from Trump was, after being dinged by Bush about being special interest lobbying for casino gambling in Florida, Trump flat out lied and said it never happened. Following on that, was Trump saying if he had done that he would have gotten casinos. Politfact says nooe.

I missed the debate as I was at the shiva for a cousin's husband. I wonder if the GOP can produce a single candidate who will not be a disaster like George W. Bush.

Jon Stewart lobbied Congress on behalf of 9/11 emergency responders. In a better world, there would be no question of making sure that these men and women have the benefits that they need.

I plunged a dagger into my own eye last night rather than watch the debacle. Clearly, I had more fun.

Noon time and another three hour campaign ad for Bernie Sanders. *click*

I like Bernie — but this is getting ridiculous. Thom is acting like Sanders ws the only one with smarts tweets last night.

The Reagan Library stage last night was as close as any of those clowns should come to any Air Force One.

I had better things to do last night, like finalize the playlist for tonight's Paul's Memory Bank.

It was amusing to see Fiorina answer Trump's sexist remark and Trump's subsequent flip-flop. While she did spearhead the destruction of two tech companies, I have to wonder where my career would be if she didn't fail so spectacularly at HP. Would HP still have spun off their medical division as part of Agilient? Would Philips have been in the position to purchase that medical division, particularly the Andover facility? If those things didn't happen, I would not be where I am now. So I'm just a little mixed where Fiorina is concerned.

BTW, don't hate Tom Brady because he cheats; hate Tom Brady because he supports Donald Trump.

I do.

I'm glad work kept me from having to watch that freak show last night because I don't have the patience to deal with the bullshit. Debates need to be fact-checked as they air live because it seems like the bullshit isn't called out until after and not everyone sees it.

I have to agree. Some of the debates are on the weekend.

I think that the Democratic Party leadership needs a change, and that Debbie Wasserman Schultz should listen to those calling for more debates.

You know folks...in Boston's Museum of Science there is a mechanical calculator built entirely out of Tinkertoys.

It's true that college kids built it (MIT) a lifetime ago (circa 1980), but one could only imagine what a public school in Texas might have done had such a contraption been presented in the classroom by a student?
