Woke up this morning like so many others surprised by the BREXIT vote. The EU is something I've never fully understood. It always felt like countries with deep histories were losing their identity, to me anyway. Established formally in 1992 of 28 countries, its really only 24 years old. With yesterdays vote it seems like people are freaking out. All I know is that Great Britain survived hundreds of years before it and I'm sure even after leaving the EU it will survive well into the future.

If there's one thing that has survived this debacle intact, it is British humour.

And what's Don's take on Brexit? COME TO MY GOLF RESORTS IN SCOTLAND! Oh and this nugget when asked what his views were on the vote:
“I don’t think anybody should listen to me because I haven’t really focused on it very much,” Trump told Fox News.

Can we just snip that quote and use it against him in every ad for now on? PLEASE?!

Morning

I'm confused by the whole EU thing really - but I suppose if trump thinks its a good idea its probably a very bad one.

Actually, I don't think the UK will survive as we know it.

There's already talk of another referendum on Scotland (They voted to stay in the EU) and there's also some rumblings about Northern Ireland. (They also voted to stay in the EU).

Boris Johnson probably didn't really think this through. That's quite a pissing match he's gotten into with David Cameron.

The sad thing about the brexit vote is the racism and nationalism which prompted it. We often think of European countries as being so much more socially advanced than us, but they really show their colors (all the shades of white, that is) on occasions like this.

Good Morning.

This is not a really good thing, IMO.

As I'm reading more and more, I realize this really is a bad thing, esp for the young. Now were the demographics on this mainly the generational or class?

Can't find the link right at the moment but I read this morning that the young and the more educated voted to stay in the EU.

jeez - why is it seeming that seniors (I'm talking 60 and over) all over are voting to screw the rest of us cause they're angry about something.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

Here is an article on the young people in the UK and how they voted.

TriSec, I would not be surprised if Scotland (much more liberal in may matters than England) goes its own way. Northern Ireland may unite with Ireland. Meanwhile, Spain is calling for co-sovereignty of Gibraltar.

It seems that way, doesn't it?

I know that as I get older, I see myself becoming more pragmatic, but certainly not more conservative.

The Spain/Gibraltar this is very concerning.

Yeah, I don't find myself getting more conservative either. Now granted I am a little more "get off my lawn" about the crap that annoys me but that's mostly the kids in the neighborhood who never were taught to respect things that aren't theirs.

So, do you think it's wrong of us here in Liberal Boston to broadcast our plight on Fux Gnus in the hopes that some more conservative elements might support their local Boy Scout troop in replacing some stolen gear?

I understand that the Fox local channels in some areas are not as conservative as the nationals 'news" network.

Dear Radio host:

No the British leaving the EU is nothing like *if* the USA left NAFTA.

SMDH.

I was up most of the night last night watching the Brexit coverage on BBC World. This is looking to be a bigger clusterfuck than people realize. All those seniors who voted leave may not like that their pensions are now getting wiped out in the market crash.

And possibly look forward to this;
1. Scotland and possibly Northern Ireland may now be looking to leave the UK because of the vote.
2. The far right parties in the Netherlands and France will now be pushing for their own exit referendums. Le Pen is seeing this as the path to bring the National Front to power in France.

There is an article suggesting that the Far Right has more support than at any time since the 1930's and there doesn't seem to be that kind of strength within the left to counter it. Makes me think my one friend's facebook post that the Aztecs were only off by 4 years may not be that far from the truth.

You know who else is gonna quit the UK? That little rock at the tip of the Mediterranean - Gibraltar. It's been a British territory since the 1700s, and voted 98% for Remain. I have a feeling it may soon choose to quit the UK and unify with Spain.
