Yesterday, as widely reported and to the surprise of almost no one, the *resident-elect decided to deride the CIA and by proxy, 16 other intelligence agencies, again. Less reported and deeply alarming was this statement:

"Nobody really knows, and hacking is very interesting. Once they hack, if you don't catch them in the act you're not going to catch them," he said about the Post report. "If you look at the story... there is great confusion. Nobody rally knows. And hacking -- it is very interesting, unless you catch them in the act, no one is going to know. They have no idea if it's Russia or China or somebody. It could be somebody sitting in a bed some place."

Via USA today after the final presidential Debate:
On Oct. 7, the Department of Homeland Security and Office of the Director of National Intelligence issued a joint statement on behalf of the U.S. Intelligence Community. The USIC is made up of 16 agencies, in addition to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

"The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities."

We can go in any direction from here. However, one thing is clear: the man who is slated to take office is delegitimizing our national security by ignoring intelligence. From saying things that Velveeta highlighted yesterday "I'm, like, a smart person. I don't have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years – but eight years. I don't need that." to brushing off the CIA and now showing his utter lack of understanding of how hacking works, we are in trouble, There is just no other way around it.

He is waving his middle fingers at the Central Intelligence Agency - he really is... this was posted about an hour ago:

Wait , wut?

IT WAS BROUGHT UP.
He was in the Room just a few feet away from Hillary Clinton when it was brought up.

Hell, Chris Wallace was there as well.

What we have here is a person who is totally devoid of being present in reality. He's blaming everyone else except the guilty party: Russia.
As he prepares to take the oath of office in Washington, DC, next month, Trump just wants everyone to know that conflicts of interests won’t be a problem during his presidency (even though he already has these kinds of business conflicts baked in all over the world), and that he “doesn’t want anyone hacking,” Russia or otherwise, according to his Fox News interview aired Sunday.
This would be news to presidential nominee Trump, who in July publicly urged Russian hackers to attack his political enemy.

“Russia, if you're listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing [from emails that Hillary Clinton turned over to the State Department],” Trump said in a press conference in Doral, Florida. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens. That will be next. Yes, sir.”

Russia was - and still is - listening. Everyone is listening and it's dreadful what we are hearing.

I didn;t have time to get into Rex Tillerson and the fact that Russian Sanctions are hurting his business.....

Russia welcomes the SoS pick with open arms.
Putin had hosted Tillerson on several occasions, Peskov added. The Russian president honoured the oil executive with an order of friendship award in 2013.

Although Trump has not yet nominated Tillerson, several news outlets have reported he is likely to do so in the next few days.

Carter Page, an American energy consultant with ties to the president-elect who has criticised US sanctions against Russia, also lauded Tillerson on Monday during a trip to Russia. Trump named Page as one of his foreign policy advisers in March, but his campaign subsequently denied any connection to the consultant after reports that US intelligence was probing Page’s ties to Russia.

You all remember Carter Page? Former Trump advisor with Russian ties? had to step down from the Campaign?

He just went BACK to Russia.

I don't think it really matters if nine Democratic electors don't vote.

Heh I actually hear that a lot. And I really do like Bernie a whole lot. My main problem with him (and his campaign and most vigorous supporters) was that they refused to pay attention to OR play by the rules of the Democratic Party in each state because they felt the rules were unfair, unlawful or unconstitutional. Doesn't work that way guys - the party is a private organization and their primary elections are not managed by the state governments. And the more the campaign dragged on, the more his campaign's tactics started to resemble the same down-handed shit that Mark Penn and the 'Hillary is 44' crowd did during her campaign in 2008. It totally turned me off.

I guess our only hope is that the electoral college comes to the conclusion that Trump would be a Russian puppet and reject him on those grounds.

I think it would have to be more along the lines of thinking the results were compromised and that the popular vote represents the will of the people.

So basically we are stuck with a "figurehead" that is controlled by Russia and Pence with his extreme ideology.

Do you think McConnell is going to do away with the filibuster so they can get simple majorities for the things they want?

Without a doubt. McConnell's wet dream is the permanent Republican majority, and he's already proven he'd go to any length to achieve it by effectively shutting down Congress and standing in the way of every move the Executive Branch makes.

Comment by livingonli on 12/12/2016 17:57:19
I think since Gingrich became speaker, the goal of the GOP has been to create a permanent majority. I think Karl Rove had pretty much said that was his goal.

True that. If he was tried and convicted and sent to prison it would have kept the ones that followed from doing what they do. From the October Surprise to Trump and gang stealing this election.
