Tapp This.
Author: Raine    Date: 03/06/2017 14:05:01

Good morning and welcome to a new week. What fresh pile of dog poop have we to look forward to. Today? The White House still insists the black man gave him a wire tapp in trump tower.

After a series of deranged tweets from the deranged lunatic occupying our White House, the Press Bunny Secretary issued this statement:

About an hour or so after that, current deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeard on "This Week" to talk to Martha Raddetz. The topic? The Obama Tapp
RADDATZ: Was the principal source the Breitbart story, which links to The New York Times? But The New York Times doesn't say anything definitive. Donald Trump does. There is nothing equivocating about what he says. "I just found out that Obama had my wires tapped."

That's not look into something. He says it happened.

HUCKABEE SANDERS: Look, I think the bigger thing is you guys are always telling us to take the media seriously. Well, we are today. We're taking the reports that places like The New York Times, FOX News, BBC, multiple outlets have reported this. All we're saying is let's take a closer look. Let's look into this. If this happened, if this is accurate, this is the biggest overreach and the biggest scandal.

RADDATZ: The president of the United States is accusing the former president of wiretapping him.

SANDERS: I think that this is, again, something that if this happened, Martha.

RADDATZ: If, if, if, if.

SANDERS: I agree.

RADDTAZ: Why is the president saying it did happen?

(snip)

SANDERS: Look, I think he's made very clear what he believes. And he's asking that we get down to the bottom of this. Let's get the truth here. Let's find out. I think the bigger story isn't who reported it, but is it true? And I think the American people have a right to know if this happened, because if it did, again this is the largest abuse of power that I think we is have ever seen.

RADDATZ: OK. Let me just say one more time. The president said, I bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October. So the president believes it is true?

SANDERS: I would say that his tweet speaks for itself there.

.

23 hours after the Statement was issued from Spicy Bunny Sean Spicer, she appeared on Good Morning America. The topic? The Obama Tapp.

Now the WH spokesperson says she can't speak for the pResident, but also says that they don't believe the FBI Director's denial of said wiretap claim. They don't believe the Former DNI Director, James Clapper, and here is where it gets interesting.
CHUCK TODD: Let me start with the President's tweets yesterday, this idea that maybe President Obama ordered an illegal wiretap of his offices. If something like that happened, would this be something you would be aware of?

JAMES CLAPPER: I would certainly hope so. I can't say-- obviously, I'm not, I can't speak officially anymore. But I will say that, for the part of the national security apparatus that I oversaw as DNI, there was no such wiretap activity mounted against-- the president elect at the time, or as a candidate, or against his campaign. I can't speak for other Title Three authorized entities in the government or a state or local entity.

CHUCK TODD: Yeah, I was just going to say, if the F.B.I., for instance, had a FISA court order of some sort for a surveillance, would that be information you would know or not know?

JAMES CLAPPER: Yes.

CHUCK TODD: You would be told this?

JAMES CLAPPER: I would know that.

CHUCK TODD: If there was a FISA court order--

JAMES CLAPPER: Yes.

CHUCK TODD: --on something like this.

JAMES CLAPPER: Something like this, absolutely.

CHUCK TODD: And at this point, you can't confirm or deny whether that exists?

JAMES CLAPPER: I can deny it.

CHUCK TODD: There is no FISA court order?

JAMES CLAPPER: Not-- not to know my knowledge.

CHUCK TODD: Of anything at Trump Tower?

JAMES CLAPPER: No.

CHUCK TODD: Well, that's an important revelation at this point.

About the Title Three authorized entities, that Clapper mentioned:
Title III establishes warrant procedures consistent with the Fourth Amendment.

General Provisions. Title III prohibits the intentional actual or attempted:

• interception,
• use,
• disclosure, or
• "procure[ment] [of] any other person to intercept or endeavor to intercept" any wire, oral, or electronic communication.

Exceptions: The Act provides exceptions for operators and service providers for uses "in the normal course of his employment while engaged in any activity which is a necessary incident to the rendition of his service" and for "persons authorized by law to intercept wire, oral, or electronic communications or to conduct electronic surveillance, as defined in section 101 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978." 18 U.S.C. § 2511.

The Act also prohibits the use of illegally obtained communications as evidence. 18 U.S.C. § 2515.

and in that link there is this: Any willful disclosure or use by an investigative or law enforcement officer or governmental entity of information beyond the extent permitted by 18 U.S.C. §2517 is a violation 18 U.S.C. § 2520(g).

This is bigger than the Occupant reading a Breitbart story. Obama legally could not have wiretapped tRump.
An Obama spokesperson yesterday denied the former president's involvement, saying: "A cardinal rule of the Obama administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice. As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply false."

It's the attorney general, not the president, who signs off on applications for a wiretap warrant. In foreign intelligence cases, those applications must be approved by the FISA court -- a secret tribunal with the authority to grant warrants for electronic surveillance of any "foreign power or agent of a foreign power" engaged in espionage or terrorism.

It's gonna be a hellova week -- Again. Again I say, this cannot sustain. This is not normal.

and

Raine

And there is this

4. How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!

White House sources acknowledge that Trump had no idea whether the claims he was making were true when he made them. He was basing his claims on media reports—some of them months old—about the possibility that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court may have authorized surveillance of Trump associates, presumably pursuant to a federal investigation of their ties to Russia.

Later Saturday morning, White House Counsel Don McGahn told staffers to avoid discussions about the president's tweets or any possible investigation—an order that effectively paralyzed the White House staff for much of the day. Staffers were afraid to talk to one another for fear of running afoul of McGahn's guidance and even those authorized to talk to the media were nervous about doing so.

good morning!

Thanks for bringing up the Title III wiretaps, Raine. That was my thought when Cheetolini was having his Twiter tantrum. How do we know if it isn't somebody in the NYPD or the NYSP?

Good Morning.

Did we see the republican that tweeted back over the weekend, "Hey Donald, if you were wiretapped, that means Obama needed a warrant and probable cause, and you're likely in deep shit?"

That doesn't say they are blocking InfoWars. It says that Facebook is flagging bullshit content.

"...If you're asking me why, he's trying to detract attention from what was a very, very bad news cycle, and let me go very very dark on you, Mika, all right? the President of the United States put his reputation, the reputation of his predecessor, and the reputation of this nation at risk to get at least a 'draw' out of the next 24 hour news."
- Gen. Michael Hayden, speaking on Morning Joe earlier today

The whole thing sounds cartoonish to me, literally. I've watched enough One Piece to know when the quote 'put all our lives on the line damnit!' is being paraphrased or put into practice.

Good morning, bloggers!!! I hope that you are well. (I was a little sick yesterday, but I am feeling better after an insane amount of bed rest.)

I think that we are in a strange, unchartered area. I have to wonder how long Trump will remain in office. I suspect that he is scared that the jig is up. Meanwhile, I think that Vladimir Putin is taking lots of antacid.

That's a lot different than what's being reported (and complained about loudly) everywhere. And tbh I don't even want to see that drivel flagged just get rid of it.

You know, WRT to Clapper and the blog, I think this is also really important.

Clapper resignation was effective Jan. 20. Loretta Lynch left her position the same day as well.

Sally yates was fired January 30th.

Acting Attorney General Sally Yates has been fired by President Trump for her decision to order DOJ to not defend the current Administration’s executive order on immigration in court. The New York Times report** includes the somewhat alarming paragraph:

Mr. Trump has the authority to fire Ms. Yates, but as the top Senate-confirmed official at the Justice Department, she is the only one authorized to sign foreign surveillance warrants, an essential function at the department.

But those concerned that a critical national security program will now come to a screeching halt can probably rest easy. The New York Times is wrong on this one. Yates’s replacement, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Dana Boente does have the power to issue FISA applications.

Sessions was sworn in officially on Feb 9th.

That means there was a 19-day window for a FISA Warrant. Again, Clapper left his position on January 20th -- He is correct in saying he would have known if there was a FISA warrant to tap Donald Trump as a foreign agent.

a lot could have happened in those 19 days. Clapper bringing up Title lll was correct -- however, what happened after he left office -- I am sure he doesn;t know. *

So, your loyal TriSec has passed the HR screening call, and I'm waiting for a connection with a local hiring manager here at Wayfair corporate headquarters. (Copley Place, Boston).

Cautiously optimistic at this time.

As far as I can see, there is no one at the position of Director of National Intelligence,

Trump nominated Dan Coats.

Clapper left in January. We sill have no DNI.

This is a really big fucking mess.

It is not - this would be working in retail and commercial EDI. There's actually an old connection there, several folks from athenahealth have left the business and "jumped ship". The recruiter noted that on my resume.

Obivously. I figured there has to be a technology connection. As it turns out, I was somewhat correct.

Also, OMG Tri used the quoting feature of the blog!
