Good morning, bloggers!!!
I am waiting to hear from my interview last week. Meanwhile, I have a local job fair. I am not sure if it will be helpful, but I am going. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Is it me, or does the GOP seem to be so much in its own bubble that they are failing to realize what a few million people losing healthcare coverage might mean for their election prospects in 2018?

They don't care because they just want to ram through whatever they can while they can. Also they think they can get away with it, because they don't even need half the voting population to fall in line to keep their offices and they can keep pushing people out of the process since they have the power.

Okay this is REALLY creepy. Not even two seconds after I sent an email to the team here telling them about the phone system, I get a spam email trying to sell us a new system.

Nope. Just in my email to the gang here, and my whiny comments about it here & on IRC (yes, I still really use that old relic part of the net)

One of the things that drive me crazy about Republicans on health care is they constantly prattle on about how people need to be better-informed consumers of heath care, we need to shop. Well, when my friend Katy broke her tibia, she did really have time to shop around for an orthopedic surgeon to get the best possible price. She broke her leg on Sunday and had surgery on Wednesday. She went with the surgeon that was on call in the ER. Was he charging the best price for the surgery? I don't know, she had insurance. Do I want to spend my time looking around for the best price on a procedure that is going to limit my out of pocket? No! I just want it done and to be covered thank you very much.

Flores had spent his savings fleeing from gangs in El Salvador, with the hope of joining his wife in Los Angeles. After he surrendered to Border Patrol agents in Texas and asked for asylum, ICE sent him to the Northwest Detention Center, a cavernous facility for detained immigrants in Tacoma, and set his bond at $7,500. But Flores was broke. His wife contacted bail bond companies but they required collateral, such as a car or house, that the couple didn’t have.
Flores turned to Libre, a for-profit company whose name means “free†in Spanish. His wife called the company and paid Libre $2,170 — 20 percent of his bond plus fees. Two days later, Flores said in an interview, a Libre employee was waiting for him as he walked out of the detention center, weeping with joy.
The man drove Flores to a McDonald’s and bought him a Big Mac and a smoothie, he said. Afterward, as they drove to the bus station, the Libre employee pulled into an empty parking lot. The man handed him a packet of documents in English — a language Flores does not speak — and told him in Spanish to sign, Flores recalled. Then, he asked Flores a question.
“Where do you want me to put it?â€
“Put what?†Flores remembered answering.
“La pulsera,†the man said, using the Spanish word for bracelet. When Flores suggested his wrist, the man scoffed.
“I don’t think you’re going to want to walk around with this on your arm,†the man said, pulling out a GPS monitoring device the size of a pack of cigarettes with a thick band. As the man strapped the device to Flores’s ankle, he told Flores he had to pay Libre $420 a month.

Can we survive the insanity of this President? I guess the only things that help are that his coziness with Putin is pushing things too far, and he's too stupid to be an effective tyrant since he has to be babied by Bannon and the Brietbart crew.

I'll admit it right now to you guys - I've been having a mini-freakout the past couple days, ever since the Don T. Care bill was revealed. I think I mentioned here that I lost a friend because I said openly that I was considering an income tax boycott and he freaked out (both because it's no better than what Trump himself does AFAWK and because refusing to pay taxes as a protest has become a hardcore conservative-libertarian idea... even tho I got it from Thoreau). Then last night one of my gaming buddies make a crack about women's day and it pissed me right off to the point that I shut off my PC and skipped out on our scheduled raid five mins before it was to start.

I know it sucks -- but to be honest I am coming to realize that I will lose friends as well. I know that there is the old yadda saying about not being friends in the first place -- but the thing is this isn;t some inspiration self esteem poster moment.
This is dictatorial bullshit that is happening. This is not a drill.
