Good morning?
Author: Raine    Date: 04/03/2017 13:05:48

Starting off with some unsettling news this morning out of Russia.

"According to the very first preliminary information, about 10 people were killed in the explosion," a source told TASS, noting the exact number of victims was still being established.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the victims and is talking to the FSB security services about the investigation, according to state media.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was in St. Petersburg speaking at an event earlier Monday but that he was now in the nearby city of Strelna.
From Haaretz:
At least 10 people were killed and 50 injured by at least one explosion in a metro station in St. Petersburg, Russia on Monday, the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee confirmed. Interfax is reporting that one of the blasts involved a device filled with shrapnel.

St. Petersburg emergency services report that there were blasts in two metro carriages at two metro stations. All St. Petersburg metro stations have since been closed.

From Wikipedia:
Saint Petersburg is one of the modern cities of Russia, as well as its cultural capital. The Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saint Petersburg is home to The Hermitage, one of the largest art museums in the world. A large number of foreign consulates, international corporations, banks, and businesses have offices in Saint Petersburg.

In the meantime, President Kushner was in Iraq. and the diaper baby was tweeting about Hillary Clinton, and threatening North Korea.

Not a slow start to this week.

One more thing:

Happy Birthday, BobR!

I am kinda fond of that guy!

and
Raine

Morning, comrades. Off to the store in a few; I'll check in later.

I am headed to Florida on Wednesday. I regret that I will be passing by every single one of our coastal bloggers without stopping on the way back north Friday and Saturday.

For those of you stalking at home, it's Jetblue flight 221, KBOS-KPBI, scheduled departure around 8:40.

No need for coverage; AAV will be posted as planned tomorrow morning, as I'm still in-town, and we'll be using technology to live-blog the entire trip, including an iblog from the road Saturday am.

Oh, and then there's this foreshadowing.

Yes caller, lets have the Dems run only on money they get from voters while the Repubs run with money they get from corporations. Lets see how that works for us.

Bernie Sanders is not calling for Democrats to disarm but for an end to the current system of campaign financing. Sometimes, followers of a person or a faith are not as perceptive as their leaders.

Its not Bernie, I am fine with Bernie.

Its the assholes, including an old school friend/ex-fam member on FB, that every time I post anything pro-Hillary they post memes and links to crap that make her look just shy of a serial killer. I delete them from my threads and get accused of suppressing free speech. Also the fake news crap - the old school friend actually believes Pizzagate to be real and no link I can provide to disprove it with facts will do cause its all "owned by Soros" including Snopes. It's nuts.

I'm also tired of the purity test - politicians are not as pure as the driven snow, they are always tainted by associations or money.

1) Free Speech is guaranteed not to be infringed upon by the government. You are not the government; hence, you cannot suppress free speech.
2) PizzaGate was promoted by RW conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who has since apologized for promoting a fake story. Your "friend" is therefore worse (and more right-wing) than Alex Jones.

As for purity tests, I tend to avoid them. I argue that we need to look at the totality of someone's record.

Sadly, any movement will attract a fair share of jerks. I have seen this in Bernie supporters and Hillary supporters. I am just saddened people are still falling for debunked lies like Pizzagate.

I don't blame you for being frustrated. I have some friends who view efforts to change the Democratic Party to being more progressive as futile but are really not advocating a solution. Griping is easy. Solving problems is much harder.

Well, it was about a Massachusetts thing here off the Cape. What other kind of movie might I watch?

Finest Hours - I recently learned that the actual lifeboat used in the rescue is preserved in Orleans, so I had to check it out. Next time I'm downcape, I might head over there.

I am really expecting the purity police to start sounding like Grandpa Simpson soon: Old Man yells at cloud. Bitch, Bitch, Bitch!

Since I said Happy Birthday to BobR on Facebook, I should wish a happy anniversary to the fine couple.

Since it is opening day, I believe there was a hanging curve left over from spring training.

Sox are up, 5-1 in the 7th at Fenway.

But they could still blow this.

Mets won 6-0. It was a pitcher's duel until the 7th inning.
