So, I had plenty of great ideas for today's blog. How "both sides do it" and of course, it's all Obama's fault. But instead I think I'll just watch cartoons and put this here. Because I've surpassed SADNESS and already in ANGER mode.
Let us oppose hatred and bigotry all forms Hatred is wrong. Violence must be the last resort of the rational, only used for self-defense or to protect others.
Last night, I went to a celebration honoring a retired rabbi who is moving to North Carolina. It was a night of song and joy but tempered by the day's events. I was grateful that we hired a local police officer to provide security. (My synagogue does so for large events.)
I have to believe that America is better than what we have seen this weekend. My heart goes out to the wounded, some of whom are in critical condition. May the memories of Heather Heyer - who was struck by a car that fled the scene - and Virgina State Troopers H. Jay Collen and Berke M.M. Bates, who would have turned 41 today, be for a blessing. May we build a better, more just world where we will have to one day learn about bigotry from studying history.
