News coming in that a man was arrested for sending death threats to students at HBCU, Howard U has been arrested.
Rust made his post during a period of racial unrest at Missouri University.

“I left MU yesterday because I couldn’t put up with it anymore,” Rust wrote in his Facebook post. “I go home to Maryland and what do I see? The same old s***. Turn on the news and it’s always the n***** causing trouble everywhere. So I’ve decided. Any n***** left at Howard University after 10 tomorrow will be the first to go. And any of those cheapskate n***** who try to get out using the metro will regret that choice real fast.”

Rust also claimed that “it’s not murder if they’re black.”

Because he made the post from a Panera Bread in Alexandria, Virginia, Rust was charged with “transmission in interstate commerce of a communication containing threats to injure the person of another” due to the location of Howard. He could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.

We have some laws in place to help prevent more mass murders -- we need more.

It's not about shooting the bad guy with a gun (looking at you, Steve Scalise), it's about stopping and/or preventing a person from becoming a bad guy with a gun and I think that is one of the biggest disconnects between pro and anti-gun people.

Morning

This is good news, especially when it was beginning to feel like the horribleness was winning.

Mornin' all..

The really fucked up thing is now all the gun nuts are buying up bump stocks like crazy before they get banned.

Yet the same asshats keep saying "BUT REGULATIONS DO NOTHING ABOUT GUNS ALREADY ON THE STREET" Well yeah that's because fuckwits like YALLZ keep flooding the consumer market with 'em every time there's an attempt to DO SOMETHING SENSIBLE TO STOP THE KILLINGS, and then you go & sell em off to the next Steve Paddock.

In other words, it's YALLZ DAMN FAULT that people are being MASSACRED. Not Obama, not Pelosi, not Trump. YOU THE GUN CRAZY CITIZENS OF AMERICA BUILT THIS. Take some fucking responsibility and do the right thing - help us BAN THESE WEAPONS AND MODIFICATIONS AND PUT COMMON SENSE BACKGROUND CHECKS IN PLACE so we can keep another 500 more of our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and parents from BEING KILLED FOR NO DAMN GOOD REASON.

And yes, while we're at it, if you're willing to turn in those weapons and accessories of mass murder to your local police & help us get them out of circulation, then let's do that. The LEAST we can do is ASK, since YALLZ don't want society to make it a law for some fucked up selfish reason.

So I am having a problem with this.

Google's Threat to Democracy Hits AlterNet Hard
In late June, Google introduced a new algorithm aimed to fight fake news.

It sounded like a good idea—until it became clear that Google was targeting progressive news sites fighting racism and fake news. Many progressive sites were hit, but none more than AlterNet, which lost 2.4 million readers this summer, compared with the past two-and-a-half years. That's a lot of lost impact.

Google is a monopoly on steroids. They don't understand how journalism works. And it will hit our ad budget hard, potentially $100k or more, which we rely on to bring you 200 great articles a week for free.

Please help us out with a contribution, so we can continue to lead the fight against Donald Trump and rabid conservatism.

Alternet became a bit wacky a few years ago, and I am not someone who fell for Russian disinformation.
