It's not enough.
Author: Raine    Date: 10/25/2017 13:09:47

It's a start, but it's not enough. Corker and Flake are retiring and now are free to speak their minds, but as the Washington Post Editorial board states, it is not enough.

Here is the thing, I know who they are; They are Republicans. They'll vote party line over 90% of the time. Same goes for Murkowski and Collins. I'm am a Dem and I expect my party members to do the same. That isn't really the problem

The problem is what the party has become. It's Trump party. It's not even conservative anymore. It's extreme authoritarianism and as long as they stay silent either in or out of office, they are complicit. They haven't even begun to show how terrible things are behind the scenes.

So, I applaud Jeff Flake and Bob Corker for taking a first step, now this country needs them to drag some more people along into the light. They are no heroes but they are speaking out, and we need more people from that side of the aisle to do so. This is about Country over any party at this point.

If not, we can kiss our Nation -- both the one we knew and the one we had strived to truly become -- goodbye.

and

Raine

This is really bothersome.

glad Maddow forced the hand and got them to admit the lie.

Mornin' all..

So I'm not trying to get ahead of things, but wanted to take stock of the current situation. in order to convict on an impeachment in the Senate a 2/3 vote is required, or 67 Senators. So far we have 46 Dems, Bernie & Angus, McCain, Flake, Corker and perhaps Collins & Murkowski. That's 53.

After that.. we know Graham and Rubio aren't fans, plus Rubio will soon have at least 200k Puerto Ricans taking up temporary residence in Florida. Oh, and I bet there will be a lot of refugees from PR going to Texas as well. Hi there, Cruz & Cornyn.

And then there's Alabama. I'm going to admit I don't see us winning this one, but the signs there are encouraging and Doug Jones is running a great campaign against a notoriously bad POS.

I am glad I read this after I wrote my blog. It's NOT enough, but I am still glad he said this.

Flake has an op-ed today.

. That's not a bad assessment.

I do believe Florida will turn a lot more purple -- maybe blue with all the people moving there.

Morning

It used to be there was some overlap between the parties and they could get to a solution even coming at a problem from different angles but now that's all gone.

The hatred of a black PResident has maligned itself into the soul of that party, I am afraid.

They are now a party of hate and greed as it stands now, and only they can change the political atmosphere now.

I liked what Chelsea Clinton said about this.

She questioned the gutting of the park service budget.

You see, this is just another way to take our parks away from everyone but the wealthy. It's killing the commons.

Raine, you link goes to a Raw Story page, not the WaPo.

I'll admit, his reasoning is pretty consistent for a conservative insider - totally wrapped up in self-interest and advancing their own greedy interests, and the sentiment of course is waaaay too late to be anything but jumping on McCain's also-late bandwagon.

But ermm.. hey.. sometimes you need to put your a....a.... animosity aside and, y'know, team up for a common goal. Err yeah, that's it.

C'mere Jonah let's hug it out!

Just before 2am on the morning of 15 April 1912, Commander Lightholler ordered all the passengers still aboard to move to the starboard side in order to correct a strong list to port so the loading of lifeboats could still be carried out.

The ship still went down.

Oh I don't even think he's stopped! His reasoning for opposing Roy Moore is pathetic and selfish, but if it helps take him down in December then so be it.

:Currently resisting the temptation to use the title of a Fats Domino hit in response. That would be awful:

I wish someone could find whether Trump paid for a woman's abortion or forced a woman to have one even if he didn't pay.

I have not had cause to regret my decision to leave the healthcare industry. I remain in touch with a dear friend from several jobs ago, and she reports to me this morning that my decision, may in fact, be vindicated.

A stalwart of the local healthcare business has just had a major restructuring - the CEO was "demoted" and removed from the board, and about 300 layoffs just occurred.

My friend narrowly missed the axe; nine persons in her department are no longer employed this week.

Not sure if it's foreshadowing or not, but since the former CEO is the cousin of a former President (GWB), I believe he is in a position to read the tea leaves.

Just say your work wife from Athena told you this and CEO in Johnathan Bush! You needn't be so elliptical, dude. I mean they announced the layoffs on the 19th.
