Ok. New year, new post!
Author: Raine    Date: 01/03/2018 13:59:12

Thank you to our Loyal TriSec for filling in on Monday -- yes, I totally forgot it was Monday.

I don't have much for you today, By now I am sure you saw what the resident-in-chief tweeted out last night. If not, here you go:
North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!

Well, his insiders are telling us that joking about Nuclear War is no big deal.
But, but, but: Trump insiders caution that the media tends to over-interpret and over-cover statements that Trump has made just to stir the pot, and with little prior thought.

Their view is basically: Sometimes, a tweet is just a tweet.

Jeebus krispy kreme donut on a pogo stick, they are telling us to ignore the man with the nuclear codes. He's holding the world hostage with his insanity and those who have the power to do something about this aren't.

We absolutely need to take back the House and the Senate in November. Make sure you are registered to vote and take a friend with you in November. If they (the majority party) won't do something to save this country, we the people must. A year ago we entered the year, scared, nervous, depressed, sad, and generally confused. A year later, we know exactly what we are dealing with -- we are stronger, braver, and more determined!

Happy New Year and get your protest shoes shined, we are gonna need every willing and able body and soul to save our country from what has been done to us.

Peace, Love and persist!

Raine

My friend who's a professional Linux geek posted something about it on Facebook. All he said was bring on the kernel recompiling.

Hmm actually I don't think I should be worried - it doesn't seem like it's gonna affect consumers too much. Where it's gonna be a major problem is business systems & web server farms (meaning almost every website is gonna get a big time load time hit - my boss is not gonna be happy)

This is amazing.

Bannon tells Wolff that both Trump’s son and son-in-law both face major legal peril. “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV,” he said.

“This is all about money laundering,” Bannon added. “Mueller chose [senior prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy. Their path to fucking Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face.”

Last month, it was reported that federal prosecutors had subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank, the German bank that has loaned hundreds of millions of dollars to the Kushner family property empire.

Bannon tells Wolff: “It goes through Deutsche Bank and all the Kushner shit. The Kushner shit is greasy. They’re going to go right through that. They’re going to roll those two guys up and say play me or trade me.”

Good morning, bloggers!!

I think that history will take a dim view of our era under Trump. I would not have expected everything to unravel this quickly.

However, let me echo what Raine wrote: we need a new House and Senate, as well as wins on the state level for the Democrats. The GOP in Congress has shown that it will use Trump to get their agenda through, regardless of the seriousness of the obligations against him and his inner circle. Similarly, I think we need to see 2018 and 2020 as crucial, not just because of national races, but because of the census.

I am on break until Monday.

The first half of the school year was rougher than I thought. One, they did not do much to prepare me for the class nor the students. Secondly, one of my administrators almost needs to be translated from her version of English (English is her first language) to standard English. However, I have survived.

I graded finals, and a little later, I will go over the other work for the quarter to make sure that I have entered everything and not made many mistakes. One problem that I see at the school is that the students often turn assignments in late, causing their grades to suffer. Or don't turn in assignments at all.

Teaching in an urban school in a town like Gary, Indiana can be a challenge. Yet I am seeing some students who should do well once they graduate.

Think that only ever happened once, a long while ago, in my early fandom days. Good point about the RT though.

The Wolff book also seems to indicate that he had no intention of winning and just wanted to use the run to help build Trump TV. I guess that was why he only sucked up to the far right. Although it is obvious that Putin had bigger goals.

Paul MAnafort got caught AFTER his indictment of this:
Federal prosecutors are opposing Paul Manafort's request to be released from house arrest on bail, citing his recent efforts to co-write an opinion piece about his work in Ukraine with a person believed to have ties to Russian intelligence — and to publish the piece anonymously.

Prosecutors filed an objection in federal court Monday that said, "Manafort worked on the draft with a long-time Russian colleague of Manafort's, who is currently based in Russia and assessed [by U.S. officials] to have ties to a Russian intelligence service."

The filing asserted that if the article were published, it would violate the judge's gag order prohibiting both sides from making statements about the case.

Also the court artist was generous:

My bad, I confused Manafort with Flynn and Papadopoulos. Sometimes it is hard to keep track of them without the score card.

Have to love the description of the Trump campaign as a real-life version of "The Producers".. Well, it did have it's own version of Springtime for Hitler.
