Figured out my microphone problem too - it's picking up interference from the power supply in my computer. I have to get a self-powered USB hub to get rid of it. And the connector's bent where it plugs into the mic so I gotta get a new cable too.

Apparently this is a VERY common problem with this specific studio-quality microphone. You'd think for $130 the manufacturer would have done something to mitigate the problem.

Morning, comrades.

Returned safely from the Old North Bridge.

Given the opportunity to razz His Majesty's Regiment of Foot, I instead chose to be magnanimous, as we shared a common foe today.

Ohh man I read about that. He's had some of these records for YEARS and there's always been some kind of controversy, either about his methods or about his crappy attitude in general.

Not so much. At times my little introvert kicked in. Spent some time with a former colleague who now lives in Michigan but was in Vegas at the same time. At least I got away from the cold for a few days. Came back to warm weather and now it's cold and rainy.

Actually, I am pleased to be counted among the noble die-hards today.

As it turned out -

The Sox cancelled the game yesterday. There was no bonfire at the camporee because the wind was too strong. Town of Concord cancelled the parade. National Park cancelled the full re-enactment. We even cut short the 7-mile hike and rode buses into the park.

But...

The marathon is currently running. The Acton Minutemen had ceremonies at the Isaac Davis Homestead and the Town Center. We marched about 2 miles of the hike this morning.

Then learned that a sick child had flown into Boston from Anchorage, Alaska via the Make a Wish foundation. He had requested to be here to see the re-enactment.

The Acton Minutemen, and a single one of His Majesty's Regiment of Foot made their appearance at the Bridge, had a brief ceremony, and exchanged volleys so the honoured guest would not be disappointed.

Because if we're going back to the 1950s, every guvmint agency needs a cone of silence!

Afternoon all. Taxes are done and paid (eff you Web and your crap performance options vs nonqualified ones). I will be editing my resume a bit today. After that, I will embark on learning to change between A, E and D.
