Impeach!
Author: BobR    Date: 07/26/2018 12:21:57

So I'll confess upfront that this was a bit of a clickbait title. It is not pResident tRump being impeached...

Despite violating the emoluments clause of the Constitution, despite adhering to Russia (and Putin specifically) over our own intelligence agencies and allies, despite violating the Federal Records Act (as noted in Raine's blog yesterday), the House is not impeaching tRump. No - they are impeaching Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein:
A group of conservative lawmakers on Wednesday filed articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

[...]

The articles, they said, “are the result of nearly 9 months of unsuccessful congressional attempts to force the Department of Justice (DOJ) to comply with oversight requests.” The lawmakers accused Rosenstein and the DOJ of a number of infractions ranging from “knowingly hiding material investigative information from Congress” to failing “to comply with congressional subpoenas.”

“The DOJ is keeping information from Congress,” Jordan said in a statement. Enough is enough. It’s time to hold Mr. Rosenstein accountable for blocking Congress’s constitutional oversight role.”

Keep in mind that impeachment is reserved for those in office who commit "high crimes and misdemeanors". It is NOT a tool for getting rid of people who don't do their job to your liking (*cough*tRump*cough*). Are any of the items listed crimes? That will be up to Congress to decide. My personal opinion is that these are trumped-up charges (pun intended) that pale in comparison to tRump's own malfeasance.

But hey - what do I know? I'm just believing my own lying eyes, according to tRump. What I'm seeing and what I'm reading should not be believed - I should just believe him (believe me, believe me).

UPDATE (added 10:40 AM EDT): It appears even the propaganda arms of the Republican party are not happy with the House caucus for filing the impeachment

Zuckerberg lost $17.6 billion yesterday when Facebook stock went down. Good for someone who thinks that Holocaust deniers shouldn't be stopped on the platform. I can't blame the people I know who left Facebook.

Russia is now telling US Generals how to do their job, and they're not happy about it.

I have little hope that this will convince Kelly or Mattis to GTFO, but we could see a real crisis of faith in the CIC from our military leadership real soon.

Thanks for this - I am going to add it to the blog

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I am seriously thinking of checking out Mewe.com as an alternative Facebook, based on a progressive friend's recommendation. I hate monopolies, and Facebook seems willing to give data to anyone. At the same time, I will stay on Facebook to stay in touch with people in distant places, such as Anthony in Malmo, Sweden.

She apparently has ramped up her Twitter blocking.

Just heard from the WH press that is taking a motorcade to Andrews instead of Marine One because of "bad weather", specifically "fog", and therefore the press corps won't be able to ask questions.

Say Raine & Bobber, how's the weather down your way today?

Ummm, only fog I saw was when I drove from Manassas to Springfield about 7am this morning. It lasted maybe 10 minutes into my drive. It's finally sunny after days and days of rain.

Apparently he's made a visit to Iowa to whip up the rubes on his welfare plan and how he's showing the Chinese that he's boss. Considering he's playing to increasingly summer crowds, it sounds like the Trump cult is much louder than their numbers reflect.

Hi all. Sitting under canvas on day 4 of the deluge, not practicing for mile swim. My tent leaks badly, but not my hammock.

The fog was him afraid to face the press.

There was no fog today. It's one of the nicest days we have had in awhile.
