In a world where darkness seems to be rising, we need some joy and laughter. As we worry about the future of our nation and world, let us remember that there is joy, love, and beauty.

Even grim people have lighter sides that might show up in extraordinary circumstances.

So this is something I've been working on lately.. a spreadsheet of every Democratic candidate running for the House across the country.

As you can see I've gotten a little sidetracked & started just picking away at the list

That's it, turn the lights out. (video at link)

Take, for example, the story of Inge Ginsberg, a now-96-year-old poet, composer, Holocaust survivor, and newly minted metal singer, who’s spent the last few years honing her skills as a metal singer/rapper, too. Ginsberg—who’s appeared on show’s like Switzerland’s Got Talent, venting her thoughts on life, death, and the fight against the tomb—was the subject of a New York Times piece this week, with an accompanying doc video laying out her life story.

Not to be outdone, Mick Jagger turned 75 the other day.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I am back and relaxing after a 90-minute walk. I have a day of some errands and job hunting.

Talking Points Memo reports that the GOP is very worried about losing the House. If I am still in this area this fall (I am applying around Los Angeles and Boston), I will support my local Dems.

Why, O why, do I have this sick feeling that Dennis Hastert would laugh his head off over this image?

I see they went with the numbers from the Atlanta Fed. The NYC number was about 2.6ish(?). There was report on the variance in GDP numbers on the NPR mosheen during Morning Edition yesterday. So natch Cocksplat McCreamsicle went with the rosiest number. I bet that it will be changed to about maybe 3% later. Of course we won't hear about that.

I don't understand why the actual number wouldn't be an average of the regional bank numbers. It's so blatantly obvious that they only used this number because it was the most optimistic.

becuase . of course:

NEW: “President Trump looks forward to having President Putin to Washington after the first of the year, and he is open to visiting Moscow upon receiving a formal invitation," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders says.

Most independent economists say this quarter’s growth was juiced by stimulus from the massive tax cut and a one-time rush by foreign companies to stock up on U.S. goods before Trump’s trade war escalated and tariffs kicked in on many products. The widespread expectation is that growth will be significantly lower in the third and fourth quarters, likely falling short of Trump’s 3 percent goal for the year.

“The bottom line takeaway is that this growth is not sustainable and it will slow in the second half of the year,” said Lakshman Achuthan, co-founder of the Economic Cycle Research Institute. “President Trump should celebrate this number because it is going to ease from here.”

It's a cautionary tale.

That is my thought as well. There was something in the report about why that isn't done. Given the access here, I really can't get to all the sites I used to be able to get to.

I have to really wonder about the mindset of any LGBTQ person who thought voting for Trump was a good idea.
