Blue Christmas
Author: BobR    Date: 12/27/2018 13:26:16

After the Blue Wave in November, it seems that tRumpy was having a blue Christmas. Melania had already gone to Mar-a-Largo where they apparently had planned on spending their holiday. tRump stayed behind in anticipation of signing the spending bill that would fund his WALL. Unfortunately for him, the Senate unanimously passed a bill that did not include the additional funding for his WALL, then most Senators left to go home. After additional threats to shut down the government, the House decided to add the funding for the wall and send it to the now-vacated Senate. Since bill reconciliation wasn't an option at this point, the funding process came to a halt, and federal workers were given the Christmas present of no pay by tRumpy and the Republican "leadership".

So with tRumpy hanging around the White House hoping for a bill, he had the sads, and tweeted about how lonely he was. That's when things really got... well... what we'd expect from this narcissist.

Melania flew back to DC so tRumpy wouldn't be so lonely. On Christmas Eve, they decided to field calls from kids calling NORAD to talk to Santa. It went about as well as you'd imagine:
The setting was perfect. The fire was beautifully ablaze, the trees enormously enormous, as the first couple sat beside dainty telephone tables ready to delight young callers in search of Santa.

But what happened next could be considered less than perfect — especially for a young girl named Collman or her family, who might have had some explaining to do after the brief phone call.
[...]
A few seconds into the chat with Collman, Trump asked: "You doing well in school? ... What are you going to do for Christmas? ... Are you still a believer in Santa?"

Naturally, the incident was captured on video as well as the moment that followed:

"Because at 7 it's marginal, right?" Trump asked the child.

It's unclear how Collman responded or if she knows the meaning of the word marginal. The girl's side of the conversation was muted. But Trump appeared unfazed by the possibility he may have just told a child that Santa Claus doesn't exist.

Jaysus - how hard is it to just stick to the part you're playing and keep it simple and light for the kids? I can only imagine what kids were thinking when Melania answered the phone and told them in her thickly-accented English to "just be best".

On Christmas day he was still in a Grinchy mood, and couldn't even wish the country a Merry Christmas without griping about his WALL:
"It’s a disgrace what’s happening in our country, but other than that, I wish everybody a very Merry Christmas," Trump told reporters Tuesday.
[...]
“I can’t tell you when the government is going to be open,” Trump said. “I can tell you it’s not going to be open until we have a wall, a fence, whatever they would like to call it,” he said. “The only one that doesn’t want the wall are the Democrats, because they don’t mind open borders. But open borders mean massive amounts of crime.”

tRumpy has also been getting criticized for not visiting the troops during the holiday season, a tradition which has become normalized since America decided to Support The Troops, post 9/11. He apparently heard the criticism, and decided to visit one of our bases in Iraq yesterday. He spent his time defending his Putin-supported withdrawal of troops from Syria (against the objections of most of the upper brass in the military). He also lied to the troops about a pay raise, and once again defended his WALL.

I can't even remember what he said or did last year, but I doubt it was as dysfunctional as this year. One things clear - when tRumpy has a blue Christmas, so does the rest of the country.

Some people are saying Kevlar -- I don;t buy that -- I am going with it's his weight.

Did you see the Christmas portrait and his palazzo pants?

That is a little weird, could the light have been bothering her? I mean I can give someone the benefit of the doubt on that. Got nothing on her fashion choices - not something that seems smart for that kind of travel to me though.

Good morning, bloggers!! I hope that you are all well today.

As I usually miss listening to Stephanie Miller most mornings, I am tuning in. I will have some cleaning and errands to do today. However, it is nice NOT to be up with an alarm slightly before 5 AM.

As for Trump, I think that he is sensing that everything is collapsing around him. I expect more desperate moves from him.

Afternoon, comrades!

So, a childhood friend of mine out on Facebook is Trumpian. I'm amazed I haven't de-faced him yet.

Yesterday, the Dow rocketing 1,000 points was proof that we're "on the right road." I haven't asked him today yet if the Dow dropping over 300 points is also the "right road".

I truly don't understand how they justify the words that they say.

Looking at the montage, it actually appears to be President Obama's jacket that's the most off-kilter wrt "shininess". However, his looks like a standard-issue A-2 leather flight jacket. Mr. Trump's does not.

This could confirm the McClatchy report from this morning. This, if it pans out, is HUGE.

BTW, Madame Speaker Pelosi was sitting in the Presidents Box at the Kennedy center awards...

So, I just wanna share my favorite Cher song sung by my 80's idol, Cyndi Lauper.
