Well, this was a weekend. We got a boomton of snow and it made for a funderful day yesterday. It the midst of all of that, the NYT reported that the FBI opened an inquiry on the White House occupant. Rather than link to the story, I am going to link to this assessment from a person I follow on twitter.

Then on Saturday, WaPo broke a story that I think is equally important:

Trump has concealed details of his face-to-face encounters with Putin from senior officials in administration
After this story was published online, Trump said in an interview late Saturday with Fox News host Jeanine Pirro that he did not take particular steps to conceal his private meetings with Putin and attacked The Washington Post and its owner Jeffrey P. Bezos.

He said he talked with Putin about Israel, among other subjects. “Anyone could have listened to that meeting. That meeting is open for grabs,” he said, without offering specifics.

When Pirro asked if he is or has ever been working for Russia, Trump responded, “I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked.”
He never said no. He hasn't denied the question Pirro posed to him. The AP reports:
Trump went on to assert that no president has taken a harder stance against Russia than he has.

“If you ask the folks in Russia, I’ve been tougher on Russia than anybody else, any other ... probably any other president, period, but certainly the last three or four presidents,” he said.

White House aides expressed regret that the president did not more clearly and forcefully deny being a Russian agent when asked by the usually friendly Fox News host, according to three White House aides and Republicans close to the White House. The three spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss private conversations.

Let me repeat, White House aides expressed regret that the president did not more clearly and forcefully deny being a Russian agent when asked by the usually friendly Fox News host, according to three White House aides and Republicans close to the White House. HE didn't deny it at all. and I suspect we will find out sooner than we think as to why.

That these two very important stories broke with a period of 24 hours seem to me to indicate that we are getting to a breaking point with this administration. I know that Special Counsel Mueller has its job to do, but I suspect we'll be seeing more and more stories like this. One way or another, the truth will be revealed. What was revealed this weekend by our free press was a huge piece in a very big and messy puzzle. Expect more pieces to be revealed.

Once that happens, this house of cards will fall. Happy Monday.

and

Raine

I'm actually pretty surprised that no one is talking about how or if the Presidential Records Act is being violated.

Good Morning.

Morning, comrades!

I see the DC contingent has taken all the snow for the winter. Hope all is well. We're just cold up here, and in our new normal dry pattern for this time of year.

We missed the storm this weekend but there is a chance the New York area might get hit next weekend.

Hello bloggers!!

I suspect that we will see more on these two stories soon. I imagine that several allies are seeing whom Putin talks to regularly.

I guess he got the hernia from the enormous amount of bullshit he's been shoveling for years.

The whole Grover Norquist drown government in the bath tub philosophy at work. I guess "The Jungle" is supposed to be a guide book. I guess when people start dying, someone might finally realize how immoral the Republican philosophy is.
