It feels like we are surrendering everywhere.

We are seeing an erosion of our influence. Some would say that the American Empire is being dismantled on behalf of the Russian Empire.

Good morning, comrades!!! Greetings from Chiberia!!

We have set new record lows with air temperatures around -22 and -49 at O'Hare International Airport.

I went out to turn the car on and managed. It has taken a while to warm up.

Former Ambassador Crocker failed to mention that it was the Iraqi government that reached an agreement with the Bush administration to withdraw troops and that President Obama had to comply with the agreement I see some rewriting of history form the esteemed former ambassador.

Why was Melania the only other non-Russian at Trump's meeting with Putin during the G20?

I am not surprised. Modern "capitalism" often seems to rely on government subsidies -- either to build projects -- like major retail centers or factories -- or providing government assistance for employees of WalMart and other employers.

Becuase she can't testify against her Husband in a court of law.

Also, Putin could have something on Melania could have made a subtle threat. Considering how many of Putin's opponents meet untimely ends, I would not be shocked.

Reps. Larson, Hayes (CT) and Lamb (PA) introduce Social Security reforms bill

Some of the highlights include:
- Increased minimum benefits that would be 25% above poverty level
- Tweaked benefits formula that would increase benefits payments by ~2%
- Switch to using CPI-E instead of CPI for COLA adjustments to help the elderly
- Current SSA tax withholding caps at $132k. The new law would create a second withholding at over $400k, so income from 132k-400k would not be taxed. Over time this hole would close, until eventually all income would be subject to SSA taxes.
- Increase the SSA tax rate by 1.2% over 24 years while reducing taxes on anyone who receives SSA benefits based on their income level.

Greetings, comrades!

While the coldest day in Boston is likely to be tomorrow, once again this is all my fault.

It doesn't matter when we schedule the Klondike Derby - tradition has it that it will always be the coldest weekend of the year.

So, guess where I and about 300 other scouts will be on Saturday? Yep, out in the woods.

The scouting council may need to reconsider if it is anything like here. The cold is life threatening.

I started my car and I just found out that I have to pick up a prescription for my sister-in-law.

Maybe if you stopped holding it in the middle of winter, it wouldn't be on the coldest weekend of the year.

Sorry for the lack of blog. I slept late, then got immediately inundated with work. I need to start writing them the night before.

It was 4 below zero last year on the Merit Badge trip - some braver scouts actually built Quinzee Huts (a form of snow shelter) and stayed outside.

We're expecting temperatures in the mid-teens Saturday during the event. No big deal for experienced hands. It is at our "New England Base Camp" with many fine heated buildings and other cabins, just in case.

I go outside and a snow squall goes through.
