Good Morning.

Waaay back on February 1, before any of this started, I jumped in my car and drove down the Coast to Lake Worth, Florida.

The trip was primarily for legal paperwork that I needed to be in-person to complete. I am now co-owner of our family property down there, and someday it will be the Trisecs' primary residence.

In any case, upon my return, I decided to pay attention to ol' South Florida a little better. I added a West Palm Beach tab to my news aggregator, a handy little app called "Smart News".

You well know that my mantra throughout the current crisis is "50 states, 50 responses."

Nowhere is that more stark than on the news aggregator. Of course, my primary source is always the BBC. England gets it. The news from overseas has been alarming, but they're doing all the things.

Boston is a bit further behind in that regard, but we're doing all the things, too.

West Palm Beach? Well, if my aggregator is to be believed, Covid-45 has missed South Florida entirely. Oh, there's small stories here and there, but for the most part, about 4 stories in, sports dominates that local feed. West Palm Beach is more concerned about Miami Dolphins football and the impact of Covid on the NFL Draft than anything else.

Oh, and golf! I don't even know what it is, but much was made about a local dude shooting an "albatross" just before the golf course was closed due to the outbreak.

Of course, Mar-A-Largo isn't very far from our place in Lake Worth; just about nine and a half miles as Air Force One flies.

Wonder if that's got anything to do with it?

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I hope that you are doing well. I had a quiet weekend of getting online lesson ready.

As a sign of spring, I mowed yesterday. We are expecting snow mixed with rain.

Fortunately, my family and friends here are practicing social distancing. However, when I do have to go to a store, I notice many people not taking any precautions. I see people with no masks, no gloves, standing together. They are doing this even with stores limiting the numbers of people in and out.

I suspect that Virginia's governor is right in having the stay-at-home order until June 10th. I expect orders for May 1st to go longer.

As for Herror tRump's efforts to have the economy open soon, I think that there will be a push back. The governor's of many states will not want to reopen. However, I think that some will just go with whatever the resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue wants as well as local business leaders.

Here is an article that talks about the role that economic assumptions played in the pandemic. It is by Eva Illouz of Haaretz: Coronavirus Reveals What Really Makes the World Go Round, and It's Not Money - The bluff of neo-liberalism must be called out

We must decide if the systems we human beings created -- economic, social, and political -- serve us or if we exist to serve these systems. I know where I stand. I fear that I know too well where tRump and his allies stand.
