Salt in the Wounds
Author: Raine    Date: 06/11/2020 13:22:50

As a virus ravages the country we are simultaneously dealing with a pandemic. I don't know which is worse. I don't know which one will leave us first.

Hell, to be honest, I'm not sure which one will lead to the most deaths. The occupant of the White House has decided that the pandemic is something to be ignored and will resume his hate rallies next week. June 19th specifically.
The first rally will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 19. Ahead of a meeting with African American leaders at the White House, Trump said he also plans to visit Florida, North Carolina, Arizona and Texas. The President has not held a rally since early March, when all in-person campaign events halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

June 1 was the 99th anniversay of the Tulsa Race massacre.

To add further salt to the wound, June 19 is also known as Juneteeth, signifying the official end to slavery. I don't know what else to say about people who still support this monster. We are roiling as a nation trying to come to grips with racism and police brutality and he holding ahate rally, this is just awful.

Good morning, bloggers!!

I am no longer shocked by Trump's tactics, merely disgusted. Is it wrong of me to wish that his acolytes infect each other?

Raine, I think that those who support Trump are going with their own narratives, where Democrats are Communists and people such as Sean Hannity are the equal of Walter Cronkite or greater. We are truly divided here in these United States.

In some good news, I have an interview next Tuesday afternoon with a school in California. (I should get a letter of reference from my outgoing principal this week.)

For Bob: Chris Belland, OTT CEO

Cities:
Key West
Boston
Washington, DC
St. Augustine
Savanna
San Diego
Nashville

The ownership of the company has a very limited and shadowy presence on-line. It's very difficult to find any information about them at all.

And we're back - we were out cemetery-hopping today.

Visited Saugus, to see my grandparents (both died before Javi was born) as well as some old friends from town that have passed on.

But then it was over to Melrose to visit my great-uncle Albert Moore ("Uncle Ray"). It was the day of his funeral in 2012 that I presented my initial cancer symptoms, but I digress.

Uncle Ray would have been 100 this year. He served in WWII, aboard the USS Aries, and spent decades after that at Draper Labs, working on the guidance systems for Apollo and helping to save Apollo 13.

But before all that - he was just a boy in Lawrence, MA. Fate would decree that I would attend the same scout came he went to, the now-closed Camp Onway. But Uncle Ray - he is a member of the Eagle Scout class of 1937.

Javier and I went to tell him in-person today that Javi now joins him as a member of the Eagle Scout class of 2019. To the best of my knowledge - they are the only two members of our extended family to reach the summit of Eagle Peak.
