One Day...
Author: Raine    Date: 06/25/2020 12:56:49

I just want one day of peace. A day without embarrassment, rage, disappointment, and fear from the occupant of the White House.

I want one day where I don't have to be bothered by his corruption, immorality, crimes and hate speech.

I want one day to get away from this insanity.

My youth and early years as an adult were really tough, but the one thing I always had -- even subconsciously -- was a backup plan, a way to escape. Under this maladministration there no way to escape it. If things keep going this way we won't even be able to leave the country for respite. The European Union is considering banning Americans from traveling.
As European countries prepare to reopen their borders to international travel, officials at the European Commission have been working with member states on advising which visitors might be considered safe to visit from July 1.

While multiple sources told CNN they had not seen lists of specific countries, officials said they were working on criteria that would be used to draw up guidance. Discussions were ongoing, the sources said.

The guidance will be based on how countries of origin are managing the coronavirus pandemic, at a time when some parts of the world are seeing cases surge. "The criteria will be focused on circulation of the virus," said one EU diplomat, adding that Brussels is looking to keep out travelers from countries "where the virus is circulating most actively."

In 2016 the occupant wanted to build a wall.
now, in 2020 the world appears to be building a wall around the 'united' States.

Is one day of peace too much to ask? Stay safe out there.

&

Raine

Thank goodness PWC is right now under control (to some extent) finally. Its been a hot spot for a while, but gee I can't image why it would be since I seen tons of people close together without masking up

But yeah, we've been wanting to go up to PA to do some thrifting but that's totally on hold until they get their own shit together too.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I have little hope that we will get much peace. Raine, Trump's followers are getting more strident. I would defriend my cousin Sherry's husband, except that would start a family feud. (He posts memes, including one of Obama in an orange jump suit in a jail cell with various phrases and a pentacle inscribed on it.) I will likely ignore him the next week but I am the only one who challenges him on facts.

I fear that TriSec is right or will soon be proven right. We are or are becoming the Disunited States of America. Rachel Maddow said yesterday that "the federal government is just abandoning ship" on stopping the coronavirus. It will be up to the governors to step up. I have more faith in the Northeastern Coalition, the Midwest Coalition, and the West Coast Coalition than our current federal government.

The poem "The Second Coming" by William Butler Yeats seems almost prophetic for our times:

"What rough beat, its hour come at last, slouches towards Bethlehem waiting to be born?" Perhaps it is already at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

I am surprised by Alabama.

Today's blog - Isolating the Balkanized States of America is probably the best thing the rest of the global community can do. It's sort of like putting a toddler in his playpen - he can do less damage that way.

But what do we do with the forced isolation? Do we become more introspective, make a credible attempt at fixing what's broke, and rejoin the world community?

Or do we retreat further and make things worse?

I know what course we're on today. It's troubling to me that some future generation may look at the Stars and Stripes the same way we look at a Rising Sun or a Swastika.
