The Pandemic Among Us
Author: Raine    Date: 07/02/2020 13:06:53

AIDS is still a pandemic.

Let's make masks the new version of condoms.

I am not kidding about this. When I was in college in NYC in 1985, Aids became the first pandemic in my early adult years. It was scary. No one really knew how it was transmitted and there we a lot of bad rumors out there, but the condoms were a constant. Most of the women I knew carried them in their wallets. Early on, many of my friends in art school were fairly tuned-in that it wasn't just a gay man's disease. While that community took most of the devastation, the rest of the world found out it wasn't.

EVERYONE was told to not have unprotected sex.

EVERYONE was told to use a condom because there was proof that it would help to stop the spread of the virus.

Condoms were literally on the front line of slowing the spread. Clubs and bars were giving away condoms like candy.

It worked. It worked and it gave us time to have medical treatments for people with HIV/AIDS to live a 'normal' life.

Wear a MASK. Wear it like it was a condom in the 80's.

&
Raine

Good morning

Sorry I have not been around here much.

Haven't heard anything about Anne since last night. She has been transferred to the main Beth Israel campus in Boston for biopsies and other tests. While still on a ventilator, her vitals had improved to a point where she could be transported. We still don't know what triggered the pneumonia.

So the population here has been cut in half. I can't imagine what's going through Sophie's mind now. Hmm....Daddy got rid of Mommy and Cleo, am I next?

And that's one of the things that's tearing me apart, knowing how much Anne was devoted to Cleo. She knew Cleo was quite ill, but I think she knew what the next step was. She never got the chance to say good-bye. Hopefully Anne will want to bring in another companion for herself when she's able.

The other thing that bugs the shit out of me is these assholes in the South. I need to get back to work. I WANT to get back to work. MA is one of the few states that's doing it right, but all that work is about to be flushed down the toilet because of ignorant fucktards.

The last thing, I had a phone convo with Kenny Pick last night.....you guys are bringing tears to my eyes. You know the saying "It's times like these when you find out who your real friends are:

Morning

Totally wear mine. Now with more people starting to come into the office we're gonna have to bring on in. Just had a rep get shitty with me when I wouldn't let him in my office for something he knows I don't have.

Well this is interesting.

Good Morning!

One would hope she's in protective custody, because she's not going to jail if she can help it

I think it goes without saying that right now I have zero appetite (at least for me to stand in the kitchen and make something). Dropped 14lbs in June. While I've always wanted to be on the low side of 180, this probably isn't the way to do it. For being the nervous wreck that I am, BP is actually normal.

Hospital just called and said that she's starting to slip again, they're going to do the biopsy and dialysis, but that I should come and see her. :(

yeah, but:
The latest announcement almost certainly means the information will be kept under wraps through the November election. The justices will likely hear arguments in the case sometime this fall and rule sometime in 2021. The dispute might even evaporate if Democrats win the White House and the Justice Department agrees to release the details sought by lawmakers.

I pray that she will get better soon.

You may remember that Mom and i were to go see her sister Annette in Clarksville for spring break. Mom has decided to go there and I will be going with her in about two weeks, taking every precaution.

I am going to try to avoid politics with my Trump loving relatives but I am prepared to bring an anti-matter cannon to a knife fight.

Hanging in there. Next week I should also be going to the hospital to get my cataract looked at. The amputation wound has almost closed up. They have put some stuff on to speed up the process.
