That is all.

What? I came here for the maudlin restrospective.

I will remember today.

This is a day that marks an event that I am glad that my father did not live to see, He would have been furious. He also would have been furious over the insurrection on January 6th.

I have to ask if we have become a better nation in the last 20 years. My verdict is mixed. While we have more rights for our LGBTQ brothers and sisters, those rights and others are under attack. We are facing a pandemic where some leaders are showing their utter indifference to the medical evidence. We have people willing to fight their fellow Americans in a civil war.

In many ways, I feel as uncertain about our future as I did two decades ago. Yet, I choose to have hope that we can be a better nation and a better world. It will just require a lot of hard work.

We got what I think was the TSA equivalent of a card check on our flight back home. If you want maudlin, we flew on 9/11. We arrived alive.
