and all of his sycophants. This is also for all the other states trying to lead the race into the sewer. There are at least a dozen other states trying to drag this country backward with their bigotry towards LGBTQ+ people and other minorities.
The specific details regarding the bills vary between states. But overall, they seek to prohibit schools from using a curriculum or discussing topics of gender identity or sexual orientation.

"The institutionalization of these bills is an overt form of structural transphobia and homophobia, and it goes against all public health evidence in creating a safe and supportive environment for transgender, nonbinary, queer, gay and lesbian youths and teachers to thrive," Arjee Restar, assistant professor of epidemiology at the University of Washington, told NPR.

Restar, a social epidemiologist and health equity advocate, said the controversial bills will limit all youths to live to their fullest potential, adding "there should be no room for transphobia and homophobia — especially in the classroom."
I could say a lot of things that smarter people than I have already said.

One thing I do know is that I don't like being told what not to do when I know it is wrong. That's when I get rebellious. So in closing, to all those attempting to harm my friends:

The NEA has a good resource for those who want to support our LGBTQ+ kids and educators.

Good morning, bloggers!!!!

The GOP needs to have internal enemies to point o as a threat. (As the party increasingly adopts authoritarianism, it should be noted that authoritarians traditionally need internal and external enemies. Ideally, this is a small minority that has little power.)

I think that education is the best approach to defeating the GOP. Our LGBTQ students need to know that they are supported and welcome in our classrooms.

In some personal news, my principal has said that I am not reelected for next year. (So, no position at the school.) So, I will be checking elsewhere.

I had quality lesson plans but with the school having discipline issues and being hit several times, including having a period recently where I was repeatedly hit with paper airplanes, paper balls, and clay to the face, I am better moving on. (I called one time for help, someone arrived and they started up again. Then, they started throwing snap pop fireworks (the noisemakers) and the dean showed up and threatened mass detention.

Sometimes, you can do everything right and it still doesn't work. So, I will see what the future holds. Fortunately, there are lots of jobs in greater Los Angeles.

I have a few leads already. Fortunately, I can apply for unemployment.

I will do some job hunting this week. I tried to transfer to another school in LAUSD, but the non-reelection ends this. (I talked to a top union official whom a friend knows. He said I should NOT have a problem finding a new job. If I have to move when my lease is up in November to another part of the area, I can deal with it.)

In some good news, I am on spring break. Tomorrow, I am running a session of Paizo's Organized Play (Pathfinder) at the Brewyard Brewery Company.

Mala, I am confident that we will both find something better. At my school, four or five of the nine program coordinators are leaving and many teachers are trying to transfer out. Bad leadership is not worth your time or mine. Keep an open mind and an open heart as you look for work.
