I superslept last night. I woke up a few minutes ago.

That means the subject I had planned for today's blog (and I did indeed have one) will have to wait until Thursday to get its proper attention. To give you a hint, I want to share a tweet from a man who could be the son of many women my age:

Greetings, comrades.

I noted on the Book of Face back on Memorial Day that I was rather embarrassed to discover that I don't own a 50-star flag in flyable condition.

I have rectified that, but in the way you would suspect I would. I am now the proud owner of another historic flag - the 48 star flag that flew over us during WWII.

I mean no offence to Alaska and Hawaii, but in my mind, the last time we were a truly United States was on December 8, 1941. So it is my editorial commentary for today.

It is flying now, in honour of those that never made it off the beaches of Normandy.

The house we lived in in NY when I was 8 to 18 came with a 48 star flag (the house was built in the 1800s, so it's not an original flag). We flew that one on all flag-flying occasions.
