Late Morning
Author: BobR    Date: 07/05/2023 13:26:59

I didn't intend to sleep so late this morning. We had a busy 4 day weekend (tough, I know), and there have been some interesting random stories in the news, but nothing that's inspiring me to write anything of value.

Apologies for the lame blog, but I am still just getting started on my first cup of coffee.

Good morning, bloggers!!!!

BobR, I slept in late due to the fireworks and feeling restless. So, you are not alone.

This story will be big news. I have to wonder how our coastal cities will fare in the next few decades. It is still not too late to act to ameliorate the worst of climate change. From CNN:

The planet saw its hottest day ever this week. The record will be broken again and again

CNN

This week saw the hottest global temperature ever recorded, according to data from the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction.

On Monday, the average global temperature reached 17.01 degrees Celsius (62.62 Fahrenheit), the highest since records began. On Tuesday, it climbed even further, to reach 17.18 degrees Celsius. The previous record of 16.92 degrees Celsius was set in August 2016.

Experts warn that the record could be broken several more times this year. Robert Rohde, lead scientist at Berkeley Earth, said in a Twitter post on Tuesday that the world “may well see a few even warmer days over the next 6 weeks.”

Climate change has shifted those "warm days" away from New England. It's a rare sunny day; we've had some form of rain every day in the month of June, and so far 3 of 5 days in July.
