This is what happens when the Republicans are in charge.
They don't listen to what the majority of people want. Well, we already know that but over in Ohio, they are taking it to another level.

Anti-abortion advocates say they are working with Ohio lawmakers to put forward a total abortion ban. This comes after the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed the state’s appeal to enforce a near-total abortion ban.
Abortion was voted into law and became a constitutional right in Ohio, and the state is already seeing the results in court.
“Relief is like the primary feeling,” Antony Fair with Preterm Cleveland said. “It felt really good to be able to not have that fear about it getting appealed.”
The Ohio Supreme Court dismissed the state’s appeal on the six-week ban, a case covered extensively by News 5, sending it back to the state court that blocked it. (snip)
It would create a total abortion ban, with an exception for the life of the mother. It would make the procedure or abortion pill a homicide.
Under the proposed bill, the only lawful abortion would need to meet all of the following conditions: be performed by a licensed physician, be intended to save the life of the mother in danger of death, result in an unintentional rather than intentional death of the “preborn human,” and be performed after all other “reasonable options” to save both mother and child have been attempted or are unavailable.
The cells, zygote, embryo, fetus and eventually baby-in-womb would have all the same rights as someone who is already born, meaning all criminal and civil laws would apply.

Good morning, comrades.
I have arrived at a cataclysmic decision.
After the first of the year - I'll be limiting my trolley excursions to just one day a week. (Dispatching for the other day.) That's primarily so I don't lose my certification - if I don't drive for 14 days, I have to re-certify on both the vehicles and the tour, due to company policy.
As it turned out, my "side hustle" for the winter is actually a better gig. Better vehicles, easier work, absolutely low-key and laid back leadership, and significantly higher pay.
You might see me complaining about our public transit system all the time - as it turns out, replacement shuttle buses are meat and drink for me right now. There's another shutdown in the offing for January 3, so there will be plenty of work for the foreseeable future.
And when the season picks up in April? - well, my trolley friends can beg me to come back.

You have to do what is best for you and your family. If the trolley folks want you badly enough, they can offer you more pay.

Sadly, mine is delayed until Boxing Day as I have been scrambling with interviews. I hope to hear from a great school soon.
I hope that everyone is doing well.
As for the moves in Ohio, I think that the Right is showing a profound contempt for democracy when their aims are thwarted. This is not healthy for our country.

I have a wonderful sister and she totally understands.
In other good news, my Mom is entering a nursing home on Xmas Eve. It's good news for her care, and for my sister's mental health. She's actually going to be able to go to the very nursing home she worked and retired from.
