Good Morning.

Going to be brief today.

I've got a busy month of Mondays - every week until November 8 now, I'm out at rehearsal for a Masonic degree. So, my usual practice of posting on Monday nights in-season will be a little tough to keep up with.

Nevertheless - there is a wee bit of good news on the Veteran's front today. One could hope that Mr. McConnell goes off to an all-too-brief retirement before receiving his reward, if you know what I mean.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Democrat Amy McGrath, a retired Marine aviator, on Monday entered the Senate campaign in Kentucky, vowing to be a “bulwark against authoritarianism” in launching a comeback bid after being trounced by Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell in 2020.

McGrath joins a growing field of Republicans and Democrats competing in the 2026 midterms for the seat occupied since the mid-1980s by McConnell, who is retiring when his current term ends.

Once seen as a rising Democratic star in a GOP-dominated state, McGrath touted her combat experience but lost elections for Congress in 2018 and the Senate two years later. McGrath flew in 89 combat missions against al-Qaeda and the Taliban during her 20-year Marine career.

“I swore an oath to defend this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic," McGrath said in a statement Monday. "Running for Senate is an extension of that oath. I’ll be a bulwark against authoritarianism and threats to our democracy. Even if we don’t see eye to eye on every issue, you’ll always know where I stand: on the side of Kentucky and democracy.”

We shall watch this one with interest.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I wish McGrath good luck. We definitely need a change of leadership in the Senate.

Currently, the President is talking about invoking the Insurrection Act. I do not recall this sort of discussion in my lifetime. My hope is that we will see every action to prevent this. There are many legal challenges to the administration's actions and I hope that we will see these challenges succeed.

As for myself, I am trying to schedule shoulder surgery for early December. I would be home several weeks and would have months of therapy afterwards.

If KY elects a Dem senator, then it's over for the Republicans - they've lost the base.
