Good Morning.
Most of you are aware of my usual source here:
Military.com Daily News. There's a rather stunning story on the front page today, although not quite above the fold.
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Weeks of nationwide Gen Z protests in Madagascar sparked by power and water shortages escalated and led to a military coup that forced President Andry Rajoelina into exile. Army officer Col. Michael Randrianirina has been sworn in as the new leader of the Indian Ocean nation.
The colonel is not the first in history to rise from the barracks to the presidential palace.
Here are five other famous military leaders who followed a similar trajectory.....
Of course, the ones they enumerate are all military strongmen seizing power from a legitimate government.
But the fact that a staid, conservative military source in the United States would even consider printing such a story speaks volumes to me.
What are they trying to telegraph?
