We all know about the vanity project. I'm servicing one at work right now. Bentley renovated a run-down building in a gritty industrial neighborhood in this city for an ill-defined purpose.

Nobody goes there except an empty bus.

But what happens when these things happen on a national scale?


I've been to and through our nation's capitol many times. We're all familiar with the buildings, parks, monuments, and things of this nature. You might not be aware that the prominent tower in Alexandria, VA is actually the George Washington Masonic Memorial, but I digress.

Nay - we're going to talk about arches today. Boston has one. Not celebrating anything, but part of a gaudy hotel on the waterfront that acts as a gateway to the sea.




National Capitols have far more impactful architecture in most cases. Consider the still-standing Arch of Constantine in Rome, which dates back to 315 C.E. Of course, the one that's been the model for everything else since is the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Originally commissioned by Napoleon in 1806...it was to commemorate his victory at Austerlitz. He never saw it completed, as it took until 1836 to finish.

So why does Trump need one?

I suppose we've ended a dozen wars by now, so maybe that's his triumph?

Does he keep track of how many underage girls he's bedded? I'm sure that's triumphant in his mind.

How about how much money he's stolen from the government and you and me? Pretty triumphal if you ask me.

There would be impacts from such a structure, of course. Everything he does is over-the-top, so any such arch would naturally be in the middle of everything where all his cultists could come and gawk and fawn and drool and ejaculate.

But - the families of our deceased veterans aren't really very happy about that.



Hitler never got to build his arch.

Trump shouldn't, either.
