The White House has actually called the Fox News Network liars.

In a blog post titled Turning a Point of Pride into a Moment of Shame, author Jesse Lee called them out on the various lies they are telling about the White house and the bid various people are making to bring the Olympics to America -- specifically, Chicago. (expect Faux outrage from Faux news)

I have recently stopped trying to reason with those that willingly refuse to see reality. I refuse to rehash things that are simply proven to be false. I can rant on and on about the bias from cable news, just like many other people out there do, but when the White House has to say that things are lies -- it is a sad state of affairs. There are people out there that willfully mislead people for their own agenda. While people are bitching about the president wasting time to go to Denmark to help make a bid for the 2016 Olympics-- they don't seem to realize that time was wasted to debunk the lies they are telling about this event.

Suddenly the Olympics are bad. They are attacking the President for wanting the Olympics coming to America? Last time I checked the Olympics were usually a great thing for a city. From the WSJ
In their new paper, The Olympic Effect, they discover that hosting – or even bidding on — “mega-events” like the Olympics leads to a 30% increase in trade for those countries. Writing on voxeu, Rose says, “Using a variety of trade models, we show that hosting a mega-event like the Olympics has a positive impact on national exports. This effect is statistically robust, permanent, and large – trade is around 30% higher for countries that have hosted the Olympics. Such a huge impact would go a long way toward offsetting the large costs associated with hosting a mega-event.”
Aside from the long tern economic impact, the tourism dollars, the renewed infrastructure, the jobs created -- both long and short term-- the beautification of the city -- the list can go on -- what is wrong with that? How did this become such an evil thing?

The reality is this: The President would have been labeled “anti-American” by the radical fringe if he didn't go to Copenhagen, but now they are making an issue of him going. It was a no-win situation. I am sure the White House can handle the political word tossing that always occurs. It is the lying by our media that needs to stop because people believe these lies. That's when it gets dangerous -- people end up dying. At a certain point -- you cannot hide behind the protection of the first Amendment when you are using it to do the very opposite of what the first amendment says. Lying is NOT free speech. They are willfully lying to the American public with a product that they sell. That's fraud. Nowhere in the first amendment -- or the rest of the Constitution for that matter -- is fraud a protected right.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Fraud is not a right. Our government is debunking the lies of a so-called news outlet that is selling Snake Oil under the guise of Truth Serum to the public. This is where we are in The United States. What a sad, sad state of affairs.

In any other line of work, a business lying to the public about its product would get fined or prosecuted. Yet the news business gets away with it.

No...Random just pays that little attention and easily conflates all cities of Canada into Toronto or Quebec (wait...Quebec is a city right?)

I am so hoping Vancouver is in Canada...I'd look it up but...eh.

I am reading about it here. This is the trigger option.

And Carper has been against the Public option for a long long time....
But it is not true. Back on July 6th Carper told MSNBC that he was against a national public option that is available on day one. He said he is with Sen. Snowe, and thinks there should be a trigger like the trigger in Medicare Part D. Carper has repeatedly said he supports the trigger idea.

Actually the way I read it is that it's a combination of the trigger and each state deciding if it wants to participate in a public-run program or not. It's not fully national which would fit with what Carper previously said. But yeah it works against the idea of having an insurance pool large enough to drive costs down effectively.

Still they can pass whatever they want in the Senate and the House version will end up winning when it comes to reconciliation and final passage.

Didn't this person say that the people reacting to this poll (you know, the one asking if the president should be killed) negatively were just stirring the pot? So...at what point does idiot not get that posting said poll is stiring the pot, and when something that is at the least a broad postulation as to the assassination of a president gets media attention and decried for the idiocy that it is (remember, Hillary got her ass handed to her for bringing up Bobby getting shot).

I was going somewhere with that...now I've forgotten... *eats a cookie*

Good morning, bloggers! Excellent post, Raine!

As a Chicago native, I think that the President SHOULD support the city's bid for the Olympics. It can generate jobs. Mind you the president will be criticized by the GOP, REGARDLESS of what he does.

So, my advice is to go with a progressive agenda, get results, and wave goodbye to GOP senators and Congress critters after some of them lose in 2010.

Perhaps Random was thinking about the 1976 Olympics in Montreal? It was only in 2006, 30 years later, that the city finally finished paying off all the bonds.

Just in time to lose the Expos to Washington; that big Olympic stadium is now just a white elephant against the skyline. Although most of the other venues are still in use or were converted to other things.

Reports say that Texas Gov Rick Perry's cousin has been shot and killed by police. District Attorney said that the Governor's cousin fired shots at the deputies, who then returned fire. One officer was shot in his hand, but had no serious injuries. It happened last Saturday night, but was not announced until today.

More details to come. Nice.
