The republican party is showing signs of its decline. It seems many who once proudly called themselves republican now refer to themselves as "Independent". Its time to drive the nails into the coffin. And frankly, as far as I'm concerned the Dems can follow soon after.

Here is my reasoning:

1. People are getting lazy in politics. Sure, they watch their news and opinion polls, they read a few papers and magazines but they don't really research the candidates. Instead, they walk into the voting booth and pull the lever (they don't really have levers anymore) for the party that believes in the same values as they do. But more and more my party doesn't hold the same values as me! I voted for a Democrat - a blue dog - that is squarely against the public option, is very weak on support of unions, voted against the Obama stimulus act and I know that he is personally against Choice (though he tries to be quiet about that sending out little code words). Other than having a 'D' after his name to give the Dems the majority he is as useless as an extra pinky toe.

2. I used to like having a bit of a balance of both parties in the House. Without it one party might just get all power crazy and do bad things like, oh, I don't know..... invade soveriegn countries that did nothing to us. Well, it's important that the opposite party also have some balls* to prevent that. The republicans have had too much power and they let it go to their heads. Time to go.

3. They are downright MEAN. Okay, it's fine to disagree, but threats, yelling and rhetoric are out of control. The republican party, what's left of it, has become usurped by the religious fundies who are all "me me me"; selfish bastards. Uncaring for their neighbors health and prosperity. Even more so than during the Regean 80's they seem to say, "I have mine, get your own". It's pull yourself up by the bootstraps but we won't help you buy the boots.

According to a Gallup Poll put out earlier this year the party is on its way out. Lets help them. I loathe polls, but its obvious that this one bears some truth judging by the decline of people I personally know that no longer belong to the party.

The decline in Republican Party affiliation among Americans in recent years is well documented, but a Gallup analysis now shows that this movement away from the GOP has occurred among nearly every major demographic subgroup. Since the first year of George W. Bush's presidency in 2001, the Republican Party has maintained its support only among frequent churchgoers, with conservatives and senior citizens showing minimal decline.

I would be in favor of an end to Fox "News" and the death of talk radio hate speech couldn't come faster. In fact, I would love to see Corporate "news" of all kind brought to their knees. You cannot convince me that Disney (ABC) or GE (NBC) does not have some agenda.

So, to that means, I am happy that the administration called out Fox News for being not a news organization.

White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod said this weekend that Fox is "not really a news station." That echoes similar comments made by White House Communications Director Anita Dunn and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Not convinced Fox News is an opinion network with an agenda to destroy the progressive view and Obama? Check this out:

So, bring out the Boehner - yes, it IS pronounced Bo (long 'o') Ner and Mike Steele and all the party leaders, and bring out The Cat! Play! Play! Play!! Music to my ears.

* Balls. Why are balls considered strong and/or brave considering their propensity for being the weakest part of the male body? I'm all for changing this. No offense to my male friends, but frankly, balls are weak. Since women bravely endure the excruciating pain of childbirth I submit that we should use the strength of the womb as our metaphor. So, the Dems need to GET SOME DAMN BIGGER WOMBS!

Mmmm....tonight's special at Chez TriSec...

Cuban Pork Roast with peppers and onions with lovely cilantro and annato au jus

Homemade Black Beans and steamed rice

And a delightful (store-bought, alas) pumpkin pie.

Our wine selection this evening is a 2008 Courtney Benham (CA) Sauvignon Blanc.

I have already had an El Tiante Cigar and a George Dickel bourbon for an aperitif...
