Several computer crashes today. I'll be back next week.

Please enjoy some of Sarah's book excerpts:

"I had followed the Iran hostage crisis and remember wondering why President Jimmy Carter didn't act more decisively. From my high schooler's perspective, I thought the question was, Why did he allow America to be humiliated and pushed around? The new president being sworn in radiated confidence and optimism. The enemies of freedom took notice. In years to come people would ask, What did he have that Carter didn't? To me the answer was obvious. He had a steel spine.

"But your dad's a science teacher," Schmidt objected. "Yes." "Then you know that science proves evolution," added Schmidt. "Parts of evolution," I said. "But I believe that God created us and also that He can create an evolutionary process that allows species to change and adapt." Schmidt winced and raised his eyebrows. In the dim light, his sunglasses shifted atop his hear. I had just dared to mention the C-word: creationism. But I felt I was on solid factual ground.

"Politically, Juneau always had a reputation for being a lot like Animal House: drinking and bowling, drunken brawls, countless affairs, and garden-variety lunchtime trysts. It's been known at times to be like a frat house filled with freshmen away from their parents for the very first time. At other times, the capital city's underside was even darker: clandestine political liaisons and secret meetings, unethical deeds and downright illegal acts. . . . In short, it was a lot like Washington, D.C."

“You know what? We’ll schedule a segment with her,” [Couric] Nicolle said. “If it doesn’t go well, if there’s no chemistry, we won’t do any others.”

Meanwhile, the media blackout continued. It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto’s producer. I had a friend call Bill O’Reilly after I was inundated with supporters in Alaska asking why the campaign was “ignoring” his on-air requests for a McCain campaign interview. I had another friend scrambling to find Mark Levin’s number. Aboard the campaign plane I was within twenty-five feet of reporters for hours on end. Headquarters’ strategy was that I should not go to the back of the aircraft and talk to the press. At first this was subtle, but as thecampaign wore on, Tracey or Tucker would call headquarters to request permission, and someone in DC would respond, “No! Absolutely not- block her if she tries to go back.”

Looking at these choice quotes I am have to ask again, has this woman ever had an original thought in her life?

Why is Failin' Palin even appearing to sign books when she didn't even write it?

Anyway, back to the TV project. Went to adjust my magnifying lamp and the lamp part (circular fluorescent and magnifying glass) fell off. So now I'm just propping the lamp on the bench. Them lamps ain't cheap.

But the good news is I started with a set that wouldn't run more than 10 minutes and wasn't very stable even then and the sound was very weak. Now I've got a nice bright stable picture and the sound is loud even though it does fade after a while. There's still quite a way to go.

I've been running nuts all weekend and there is still more substance that came out when I used the bathroom than there is in Sarah's tiny little brain.

Made lots of progress today, despite having the magnifier break. This is already uncharted territory, the set ran throughout the first half and I turned it off only because I had to do some grocery shopping.

You just want to see her head explode when she attempts to think.
