Another amendment gone?
Author: Raine    Date: 12/20/2007 13:33:58

The Feds blocked California's Emmisions law.
The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday slapped down California’s bid for first-in-the-nation greenhouse gas limits on cars, trucks and SUVs, refusing the state a waiver that would have allowed those restrictions to take effect.

“The Bush administration is moving forward with a clear national solution — not a confusing patchwork of state rules,” EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson told reporters on a conference call. “I believe this is a better approach than if individual states were to act alone.”
Another example of the Bush administration not reading documents. The Tenth Amendment clearly states :
Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Another amendment trampled upon. More rights taken away from states, more power from the people who actually voted for this rule. In the mean time, this administration is doing little to nothing about the Global Climate crisis.

The message here to Californians is clear... bend to the will of the federal government. It is really pathetic, because the federal governement only wants to protect corporate interests, not the environment, which is the EPA's JOB! :grumble:

What I look forward to is a day when we have a president who actually knows that EPA means "Environmental Protection Agency". I look forward to a day when we have an administration that actually cares more about individual Americans than the oil industry, the auto industry, the private contractors, lobbyists money and every other kind of special corporate interest out there.

As you know, we have put up ads for the candidates that we at Four Freedoms Blog most like. Take a look around, and see if you feel that thing when you think about your candidate. Is it more of what we have with this administration? Is the person a good person?.. Do you trust them to be your leader? These are important things... but most of all, does your candidate respect and protect the constitution of the United States of America?

In other news....Flu plagued Rudy spends night in the Hospital.. The last time I recall Rudy spending some time in the hospital was when he tanked in the polls running for the Senate against Hillary in NY. A few days later, he announced he had for prostate cancer and dropped out of the race. I wonder if this is a pattern of his when his polls nosdive.

So that is it for now, see you inside where all the complimentary beverages are. Let's get thru the day with some laughs and smiles... With only 2 weeks until the Iowa caucus, it's sure to be interesting.

:peace: and
Raine

Morning!

Oh poor Rudy. Yes, this does sound suspiciously like FEAR. Uh Oh, big drop in polls? Run, run, run.........away and hide under the covers!! I have always called "Fear": Fuck Everything And Run!

Maybe he'll comeback and try to get the "poor me" vote.

Comment by TriSec on 12/20/2007 13:55:10
Good Morning.

The management of 4F now presents "TriSec's Morning Snark", an ocassional series penned by one of our co-founders...

OK, so it's snowing in New England again. Big freakin' deal. It's the light kind...big, fat, snowflakes that look pretty but don't do much. Why, oh why was the City of Waltham out at 4 am plowing sparks then?

On the way to the mines this morning, I got stuck behind a "timidiot" who was afraid that his precious little truck was going to spin out and end up in a snowbank. Trouble was, it was a frickin' 18-wheeler driving through a residential neighborhood on top of that. Come on, my Subaru wasn't having any trouble, surely your truck that weighs 20 times what I do wasn't having traction issues?

Oh, and this thing about Rudy spending a night in the hospital for "flu-like symptoms". What kind of flaccid, pantywaiste, liberal, bedwetter does that? He wants to be leader of the free world and defeat terrorism, but he can't take on a virus in a fair fight? Jeez, the last time I had "flu-like sympoms" I took a pill and went to work. You don't see me running for president, do you?

BTW, it must be nice having the kind of insurance that lets you do that...I'm in the business and I still have to fight with my PCP to get a damn office visit, fershite's sake.

This ends today's presentation of "TriSec's Morning Snark". Stay tuned for the next edition, which will be posted at about the same time hell freezes over. (Hey, it already happened twice in October of 2004 and 2007...)

Good morning all.

The show has definitely gone in the ditch. Rush is sure the romantic, someone has to ask Daryn Kagan what he was like.

As for Rudy, I was just thinking the same thing, he got "cancer" in 2000 when his poll numbers were tanking (that's when all the affair stories were first popping out) and now he may do the same again since he is no longer the GOP front runner. Another sign of what a thin-skinned hypocritical piece of shit he is.

Comment by velveeta jones on 12/20/2007 14:26:48
Great snark Tri!! And a really good point about those of us that don't have insurance, when I get "flu-like" symptoms I take a pill and drink more coffee to stay awake. Hell, I once walked around all day with a bum gallbaldder but didn't leave my desk at work. Didn't go to the hospital to have it removed until 11:00 that night!

Freakin' wimp!

Hey liv, when he had the cancer... did you buy that story? Personally I thought his three days to recuperate was a bit sketchy to me. I still question if he had cancer at all, to tell you the truth.

Since he never "relapsed", it certainly seemed like his "cancer" in 2000 was just an excuse to bow out of a race he was going to lose. Interesting how he was touted as the one to beat Hillary in the 2000 Senate Race and was again touting himself as the one to take on Hillary but now that his poll numbers are tanking with yet more scandal revelations he suddenlty becomes ill.

By the way, Bill-O, Liar, Liar, your pants are on fire.

Talk Show Host Graham Fired By WMAL Over Islam Remarks

Graham had been suspended without pay from his daily three-hour show since making his comments July 25. The station had conditioned his return to the midmorning shift on reading a station-approved statement in which Graham would have said that his anti-Muslim statements were "too broad" and that he sometimes uses "hyperbole" in the course of his program. WMAL also asked Graham to speak to the station's advertisers and its employees about the controversy.

Graham said he would not apologize "for something that is true." (By Stephen Salpukas)

I find that most people I meet are very pro edwards... the more liberal a person is the more they tend to be for kucinch. Personally I have figured something out for myself ... Dennis is the perfect candidate for progressives, but truly, edwards I think is the person that can bring this country together. The far right will only shred dennis. I love ideaology, (and dennis is an idealogue) but John, for me is the person I believe can most bring this country together. Right now, so many people are understanding the corporitism that this country is suffering from, and John will fight to stop it. John will be a good leader. Besides, I think that john will bring dennis into his cabinet. I still have not lost hope for a department of peace, and I think that Dennis is just the man to head that department.

A certain person I love said the following, and I hope in the coming days, our dear and Loyal triSec will give more information about where this quote comes from...
ÒHe's honest about his positions and understands where personal beliefs end and government begins. Senator Edwards has said that although he doesn't agree with gay marriage, he won't try to legislate against it. He also seems to really understand the plight of the poor and middle class, and cares enough to want to do something about it.Ó
I could not agree more.

Indirectly. He talked about how can Republicans say they are pro-states rights when they pass a law forbidding states from having higher fuel economy standards than the federal level. I just hope the righties don't use that against states and cities that have higher minimum wages than the national one.

Daymn! I may have to bump that! HE is so very inspiring. I mean seriously. I have loved what he has been saying for so long. but in the interest in keeping an open mind, I really wanted to hear all of the other candidates. We are very fortunate to have so many great people running... Chris Dodd is still a very close second to me, but in all reality, I like knowing that we still get Dodd as a senator. It may sound strange, but I do not want to lose any of our great representatives right now...

Well that is the interesting thing about all of this. .Even if the feds have a law about things like minimum wages, if a state wants to have a higher minimum wage, the tenth amendment trumps the feds. In other words, The feds cannot dismiss a state law if said state law is stronger than federal law. IF the state law weakens federal law, then that is a problem. So I truly forsee no reason why California should follow this mandate at all. and if the feds try to enforce it... it WILL go to the supreme court. Besides... there is no law on the books that covers what california is doing. The president is trying to say that the new energy bill trumps it... but it doesn't.

Evening folks.

TriSec has been a busy little beaver tonight.

There's going to be an afternoon blog tomorrow.

Come and see what we're up to for the holiday weekend, hmm?

Raine, hon. I hate to burst your bubble about yout blog opening, but the 10th amendment doesn't trump the commerce clause. That is the cornerstone of all post WWII federal regulation. The commerce clause effectively gives the gummit the ability to regulate across the board clean, clean water etc.

One of the thing I fear is the current make up of the SCOTUS is the majority is increasing hostile to the legal theory that says the commerce clause gives the gummit the right to regulate.
