Happy Yule
Author: BobR    Date: 12/21/2007 13:25:39

Today is the first day of winter, the shortest day of the year. Starting tomorrow, the days get longer every day until late June 2008. So happy winter solstice, or as some Wiccans refer to it: Yule (yes, all those "yuletide carols" are "pagan" in origin). I suppose it's no secret that I'm no Christian (I'm no Wiccan either), but the Christmas season (and Yule) has always been a special time for me. There's a warmth and generosity of spirit that springs up in people (perhaps to combat the cold and darkness).

There's also all the special food and music... and of course: the special Christmas comedy. So it's Friday, and it's my last "official" post before Christmas, so I've decided to have a little fun. Here's some of MY favorite Christmas "cheer"...

First, there's Santa getting busted ("it's my wife's sleigh" ).

From SNL, we have the Jensen Family Christmas:

From the SouthPark team, we this short that was created before SouthPark became a TV show. It was actually what got TV execs hooked on the idea of the TV Show (warning: uncensored language if you're at work):

And of course, the best new Christmas carol ever - Dick in a Box:

So happy Christmahanakwanzaka and Merry Festivas. And if you need to get that Dick in a Box song out of your head, you can listen to Porky Pig singing "Blue Christmas".

I love that SNL skit. Course we can all see the "vomit" bag under his sweater (well those of us that have worked in the industry and know the prop signs) Will is one of my SNL fav's.

My wife says that I'm a pagan. I once asked her what religion I am, closest to, based on my beliefs: Pagan. So, thanks for wishing me a happy Yule! (Guess I'll need to learn more about it).

Morning, folks! I actually have the time to listen to Momma today! (be still my heart!)

And a happy Eid al-Udha, for any followers of Mohammed about!

Oh yes, and today is an anniversary of sorts for Mrs. TriSec and I.

Although we've been legal before the State and God for only 11 years, we've been exclusive to each other for 16...today being our anniversary in that regard.

Mrs TriSec --> <-- TriSec

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I hope that the holiday season will be good to us all and those dear to us.

Right now, I am working on the Daily Headlines over at UNN. Here is a Reuters story that show how desperate things are getting out there: Tent city in suburbs is cost of home crisis.

Here is a humorus Christmas video called "Merry Christmas from Chiron Beta Prime" - which perhaps shows Dick Cheney's vision of the future.

Happy anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. TriSec!!!

Oh... momma Cynthia McKinney... She is a very nice person. Nothing like they try to portray her as. And btw, Nader can run in the green party... right now they have about 5-6 candidates, and they are having primaries, and a convention in June... so don't rule nader out completly... he may have endorsed Edwards, but nader is still

I am already on vacation too. I am at my desk, but I have declared an unofficial Dungaree Day for myself, and my workspace is littered with non-work related reading material.

Comment by Will in Chicago on 12/21/2007 14:41:30
Okay, let me try that You Tube link again:

And if that does not work, try this one.

Let's keep these away from Dick Cheney. Besides the fact that it might give him some ideas, we don't want him to burn out any batteries. (Maybe that is what happened with the fire this week.)

Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Trisec.

I still have a bit of weirdness to my schedule. I'm off today then I am working Saturday-Monday (Christmas Eve), but then I start my vacation and I will be off Christmas Day and I don't go back to work until January 4th.

Correction Caller, they won't bring up the "issues." They'll bring up garbage. That's what they do. Their political strategy is self induced verbal vomit.

I think I have a soft spot for him. He reminds me of all my brothers red neck friends. They're loud and obnoxious. But, would start a bar fight to protect me.

That's how Ed strikes me.

Not an RWC. It was a Hilz fan. And, she was referring to how the Repugs will bring up "issues" like Barack's drug use if he gets the nod. I don't think of Barack's teenage drug use as an "issue."

*sigh*

From the Wiki:

Liver transplantation or hepatic transplantation is the replacement of a diseased liver with a healthy liver allograft. The most commonly used technique is orthotopic transplantation, in which the native liver is removed and the donor organ is placed in the same anatomic location as the original liver. Liver transplantation nowadays is a well accepted treatment option for end-stage liver disease and acute liver failure. [Italics mine - TriSec]

I've been in this industry for over 20 years...this strikes me as wrong on so many levels. This is corporate greed, pure and simple. They just didn't want to pay for a procedure that generally runs well over $100,000.

And what is the current salary of Cigna's CEO, one wonders?

According to Forbes, H Edward Hanway, the CEO of CIGNA had a Total Compensation of $28.2M in 2006. Her surgery wouldn't have even cost the decimal place!
